Do you give your dog human scraps?

Man, I'm conflicted on this one.. On the one hand, he eats fuckin' DOG FOOD all the time, 24/7.. Same shit, every day.. day in day out, who wouldn't be sick of that?! On the other hand, human food scraps are probably bad for him and will lead to a premature death...

So I do it maybe once a week, I'll give him some of the same stuff I'm making, usually some kind of bbq'd/fried/baked meat course

You can't keep a dog eating nothing but dog food his whole life, right?

I spoil the shit out of my lil buddy, lol

He gets a bite of lots of things I eat- but only a bite. He still eats his dogfood- the deal is that I make him a hot meal every night at six, with a third of a can of wet food, a bite of something yummy we're eating chopped in and a handful of dry kibble, all microwaved nice n warm, just for him. His part of the deal is that he eats his whole dinner before he's eligible for any other treats. This way I know he gets complete nutrition from the animal feed. He's a small dog, so one bite of a treat is plenty for him.

I grew up in culture where dogs are considered parasites. Somewhat friends but mostly a tool for shepherds. Back in the day ppl would have dogs cause a poor stray would be around and yu felt bad so you fed him WHATEVER THE FUCK WAS LEFTOVER after a 7 people family shared 4 sardines and slices of bread. yes mate the bones and shtit like rotting rice and the like. Youd come across some propper dogs yo. Fucking catching snakes in hay piles, not letting whoevers not of the farm set a foot near the property. And they were literally fed shit!
I dont advocate it but basically you are wsting way too much food opn your dog. Lol even @lahadaextranjera boyfriend feeds the monty fine gourmet pates and shit. I wouldnt mind being that doig iu fucking love pate yo

TBH it was those treats which lead to his allergy!!! That was before December when I was at my wits end!

The vet asked what he'd been eating and we just looked at each other like 'what hadn't he been eating'. The problem was I didn't know what to switch his diet to.

As I walked my dog one sunny December morning, a girl with a blue pitbull stopped me and started asking about his allergy. I have a blue pit also. She showed me photos on her phone of how bad her dog was. It was inrecognisable!

After following her instructions to a T I got result immediately. Turned out he was ALLERGIC TO CHICKEN. But because we were feeding him everything, it was hard to ascertain.

Now he only eats Dr Clauders Fish and Rice for sensitive dogs and I put salmon oil on it. I also cook him fillet of fish which he loves.

So, by all means feed your dog everything and if he does get an allergy, put him on fish and rice dry food. Some dogs are ok with lamb.

My dogs ate people food for years when I was a young single man and used to cook for myself and they got all they wanted. Over time they got humongous! Fat as hell. So, I cut them back to dog food with occasional scraps. The one passed a couple of weeks ago. He was chubby. His companion that I also got in 99 is very skinny and frail. I cooked her hot dogs last night and cut em up into very small pieces and put them in with a cup of dog food. She gets all she can possibly eat. I mean there comes a time when the physical body will just wear out. She can barely see or hear. She's all wobbly half the time when she walks. If she wants some people food dammit she gonna get all she wants. Maybe hamburgers tonight. At 16 1/2 a dog has had a pretty good life. I personally don't wanna live forever. Medical tech has come a long way tho. Quality of life is living. It takes its toll.

You should probably rethink your diet if you think that the food you eat will lead to your dog's premature death based on the fact that it will likely lead to your own premature death.

My dog eats just about everything I eat and she's turning fourteen which is old for a jack russell. (including most vegetables, squash is the only one she won't eat) I also don't feed my dog grapes as they can cause liver damage is dogs.

Pre made/packaged dog and cat specific foods have only been around since the ~30's..or so..before that..they got the leftover/scraps..or people actually cooked real food for their animals..amazing.

Lead to a premature death? My grandma's been feeding her ugly, fat, annoying mutt everything she eats, which is some of the most unhealthy human food you can get your hands on. That fucking dog just turned 16.

Of course we all think it's because nobody can stand that damn dog so it's going to live for ever.
