RULES FOR ENTRY
All entries will be light dep flowers and will be submitted by August 27, 2015 to be tested through Pure Analytics. Any contaminated samples will be disqualified. The 4 strains in each category with the highest total cannabinoids will move on to the next round and be judged the day of the event, September 12, 2015. Entries will be judged by attendees who are granted a judgeship.

  1. Only cannabis flowers grown using the light deprivation (tarp) method can be entered. Seed or clone starts are acceptable, and so are clones started under lights. Organic preferred.
  2. 215 Compliance: All entries must be grown and submitted by qualifying patients with a valid physician’s recommendation under full compliance with California State Law. Out of state submissions not accepted.
  3. Amount: Submit 2 ounces per entry. One person can submit as many entries as they like, as long as all entries comply with the rules.

WHAT ARE THE CANNABIS CATEGORIES?[/paste:font]
Cultivators can enter strains into one of four categories they think best suits their strain:

  1. Floral — examples: Blue Dream, Green Crack, Bubba’s Gift
  2. Fuel — examples: OG, Chem Dog
  3. Earth — examples: Bubba, Pure Kush, Hindu Kush
  4. Fruity — examples: Agent Orange, Mendo Purp
HOW TO ENTER
  1. Entry Fee: $215 for the first entry and $170 for each additional entry, which includes lab testing from Pure Analytics, 1 Deluxe pass, 1 T-shirt.
  2. No Contaminants: Entries will be immediately disqualified if the Pure Analytics lab test shows the presence of pesticides, chemical growth regulators, fungal growth, and/or pathogens. Disqualified entries will not be available for judging at the event, and the remaining entry (minus the tested sample) can be picked up after September 15, 2015 at Wonderland Nursery in Garberville.
  3. Drop off entries to one of three drop-off locations listed. Entries will be placed in provided Cannaline bags and drop-off location staff will number the entry.
  4. DEADLINE TO ENTER: August 27, 2015

What Times Should You Pull Tarp for A Light Dep? 3 Methods

Days became longer than nights after the spring vernal equinox on March 21. From then until July or August is a good time to start covering your light dep setups.

Method 1: Old School Light Dep
The old school method is to close in the evening at 7 p.m. and open in the morning at 7 a.m. This method works great if you have enough ventilation during the whole grow, especially the bud cycle. Ventilation is an important component to all light deps.

Method 2: So You Can Sleep In
Another method is to close at 5 p.m., opening after dark and letting the plants wake up naturally with the sun the next morning. This method works best if you have the sun shining on your plants as soon as it comes up. Knowing the direction your land faces the sun is critical for a successful light dep.

Method 3: Faster Results
Another method is one that shortens the duration 3 to 4 weeks without any loss of size, weight or quality of product. Close at 6 p.m., open at 7 a.m. to give the plants 13 hours of darkness. A lot of ventilation is needed in this one.

How to Ventilate Light Dep Grows
When closing at night, deps can be opened up after dark and closed up at 4 a.m. before sunrise; this is for ventilation. Fans are necessary to keep the air moving to prevent mold. There are other time methods but these are tried and true with great results!

lmao "just fuck him is all..." i got a good laugh outa that thanks :) after reading through 2014 im catching up on 2015. damn im growing outdoors and its all indoors. guess ill have to rip up my plants and buy some lights :)

thank you GB for starting these threads ive learned alot reading your posts and the back and forth question & answers as well. the continual flow of information has been great..........
well here is part of my outdoor grow. i wish i had read the 2014 grow before i started any of this. so much learned and will apply to 2016 grow. im hoping next year the plants will be touching and twice as tall :) at this time of the year. the strain is Purple Cream from clones from a friend. made just about every mistake you can make growing these: no gopher wire (gophers ate 2) could have had much better mix of soil, started them late from root bound clones in party cups, too hot to take full days sun when i got them into 1.75 gallon pots, over watered, wish i would have used maxsea etc for grow. using botanicare products was ok learning experience i guess (advice from clone friend) should have trimmed up the interior of the plants ( ***is it too late to do some interior trimming now? ***) on the upside i did spray Neem early & often and no issues with bugs thus far. even after all those screw ups the plants i still have are thick, dark green and have the starts of colas. some purple cream at the bbq if i can wrangle an invite :)

U dont need to wrangle an invite.
Just gotta be able to do basic stuff like lift a can to your mouth after hours of vapes bongs and edibles..lol be wary of a certain.persons popcorn ;)
