Have you checked the well lately? The pressure problem is probably coming from evaporation in the well. Wait I do not advise checking the well....that's dangerous....if it is one of those brick things in the ground that is like a big hole. I don't know what it looks like. I am not that familiar with that sort of thing. Something is out of the ordinary in the well if you have been living there all this time and nothing like that happened before. I am not sure how that can be worked out. Maybe there is not that much water in there anymore. Again I do not suggest finding out on your own if it is like a treacherous cave or something.

A new tank without a bladder does not need to be purged either...ie. It came into your house empty (but full of air)
Purging is the process of letting some water OUT of your tank while introducing air through the air fitting on top. You should never pressureize your tank with more pressure than your lowest pressure swtch setting (ie. 40psi)

No it is not the hot water tank.
That is new as of last year.
It is the water pressure thank from the well. We live in the country and are on well water.
The builder just did the bare minimum and didn't even use the proper fixtures so hubby has gone out and bought all new stuff.


The pressure seems to be ok and now he is saying that he thinks he has it. I hope so. He's quite the handy man. There hasn't been anything in this house that he hasn't been able to fix yet.

i too live in the country and kno wat ur going through my tank went last year i had it professionally done and the guy fucked it up worst.then i asked my drunk ass uncle to try and he got it on his first try.weird how things work out.hope u dont have any more trouble.

a water tank needs air in it to maintain delivery pressure without the pump running. A bladder tank has a rubber membrane inside that is normaly flat when the tank is empty. the void outside the bladder inside the tank is the air source.This way water is never in contact with the inside walls of the tank....preventing rust.
Water is TOTALLY noncompressable thats the reason you need air inside the tank. The air compresses to provide pressure to the line.As the bladder fills it compresses the air in the tank providing pressure to the line

I was talking about the o-ring and the washer so that water does not bust out of it....you got to have pipes water tight around the thread where they connect.

I am pretty sure it would take a lot of air pressure to bust metal. More like combustion LOL.

Ok so now he has fixed all the leaks and put it all back together. The psi....(?) not ppm is at 45 and the pressure is stable so he is going to go fishing.
He went fishing the other day and said he caught over 80 fish but he didn't bring any home.......lol...

We are calling a plumber but can't get anyone out here until Monday.
We have lost pressure again and now our water smells funny
Hubby said it was because we have all new fittings and a new tank but I am not sure.

The pressure switch cuts in and out like it is supposed to (30/50 psi)
The only issue we are haivng now is that it take sbaout 15 min to recharge the tank and it should only take about 45 seconds.

So we have been advised to have an expert come and inspect our pump because it is a sub. pump with the expectation that the screens are blocked.

this is where we are right now.

Here is the type of pump we have and the way it works. Apparently we have to have a specially licensed person to work on this type of pump.





When the pressure reaches a preset level, which can be anywhere from 40 to 60 psi, a switch stops the pump. As water is used in the home, pressure begins to decrease until, after a drop of about 20 psi, the switch turns on the pump and the cycle is repeated. You'll find the pressure gauge mounted on the tank with wires leading to the switch that controls the pump.

We lost pressure this morning while I was showering.
The pressure just went so after looking at it for a while hubby called the plumber and he told him that the pressure with a tire guage was 'zero.'
So plumber boy told him to purchase a new tank. Hubby wanted him to come over but this dude said that he would save us some money.

Now hubby has put in the new tank, bought a new pressure switch and he wants to know :

How to wire up the pressure tank?

Hubby says that right now it is holding pressure so he doesn't understand.

PLEASE for the love of &*%*^% someone tell him SOMETHING!!!

Does the water have to fill up before the pressure works properly? That is what i said to him but I don't know anything about it.

Heres what you do, You call a different plumber and get them to fix it right. Plumbing sucks and so do water heaters.

We had a plumber here yesterday and got it fixed. It cost us $150 so hubby is thrilled.

The pump wasn't working properly because they was a piece of plastic stuck in the 'flow control' value.
Buddy had to go right into our well. Trappled around my flowers but I know it was more important.
