I would bet the majority of people here are technically overweight, but do not think they are.

Go check your BMI. While it is not a universal, it works for most people. There are hockey players that are so bulked up that they are considered overweight by BMI, but you would not be able to grab any fat on them. Hockey players are obviously some of the best athletes in the world.
"That can't be right, I am not over weight."
If you can grab any fat, you are over weight. That is according to doctors and the government, not me.
There are many people that have a genetic disposition to obesity as their bodies convert all their food into fat instead of burning it. It may have been an evolutionary deal that kept humans alive.
Some people are basically unable to be thin while eating a normal healthy diet. They are in the minority.
The majority of people that are obese or overweight are that way due to choice. Eating crappy foods and/or too much food and not enough activity are the main causes for obesity. Life choices.
Making fun of people's life choices is much less worse than making fun of someone's sexual orientation or race.
You can not all of a sudden be not gay or change your skin color.
You can eat better food and exercise.
My BMI is currently about 23.
I have been as fat as 205. I did not look fat, but I was definitely overweight with a BMI of 27.8
Not fat but definitely unhealthy.
For every extra pound of weight you carry you have an extra 7 miles of arteries and veins that your heart has to pump blood through.
That is unhealthy.
I no longer eat fast foods on the reg. I haven't had a soft drink in years. I eat veggies and real meat, I try to avoid processed foods.
Soft drinks are liquid candy and a big part of the obesity problem. Most adult males should have less than 40 grams of sugar a day. A can of Coke has something like 45 grams. It is like mainlining sugar. It effects the same areas of the brain that cocaine does.
Diet soft drinks are actually worse for you. They mess with your metabolism and make you crave more food.
The majority of people that are overweight or obese basically choose to be that way. They are more likely to die sooner and/or have health problems from High blood pressure, Heart disease, Diabetes, Some cancers, Gallbladder disease and gallstones, Osteoarthritis, Gout, Breathing problems such as sleep apnea (when a person stops breathing for short episodes during sleep), asthma, High Cholesterol levels, back problems, skin infections, gallstones...
Overweight and obese people cost health care more money, but it evens out later as they tend to die younger. Healthier people tend to live longer and require much more expensive care at the end of their lives.
For the people that are not genetically predisposed to obesity it is mostly a choice, a lifestyle.
Been there, done that, didn't like it.
I want to live longer and be healthier while doing it.
Many people do not care but really pretend to care while eating french fries and drinking a diet soft drink, ugh.
I am not trying to fat shame, just typing thoughts.
