How does my plant look?

Hello everyone, this is my first grow.. and this plant seems to be doing well within my closet.

What kind of soil is it in? You might want to turn it regularly so it grows upright evenly. Hope it lives!

Looks okay - you might want to put your light a bit closer - seems to have stretched a bit before the leaves start - I made a similar mistake. Also there looks t be the start of nutrient burn on the very tips of some of the leaves.

Possibly. You see the yellow tips at the end os some of your leaves? Thats the first indication that your plant has too many nutrients available in the soil. You might want to feed with just water for the next couple of feeds then weaken your nutrient mix. I've got no experience with growing in soil and am pretty new all round but thats my obs.

Is it a female? is there a way I can determine what type of strain it might be?

not just looking at it at this stage - you need to wait to put it into flower before you will be able to tell. That means under 12/12 light cycles.
As for strain once your is well into flower some experienced growers here might be able to give you an idea but I don't think anyone will know for sure.

Dude if your going to grow good plants dont go half assed on soil bye good brand what kind of light do you have ? or is in a out door plant ? oh bye the way you can not tell the sex till around the flowering stage

I cut 4 since they were getting a yellow look at the end of the leaves. the baby leaves fell off.

cant see the pic too well coz im on my phone (small screen) but it looks very stretched and nute burnt, what age is the plant? That size of plant wont need feeding and not knowing what the soil composition is and its ph and conductivity values(how much food is in the soil already) isnt helping anything, next time get some good quality organic pre fertilised soil/compost(not miracle grow or anything time/slow release feed) start off in a small pot 3or4 inch is great half perlite half soil the perlite will dilute the pre fert soil as theyre normally too strong for seedlings and cuts, then and only when the plant starts to look hungry(yellowing lower leaves) or when the seedling has rooted out the pot(lots of roots showing at pots drainage holes) "pot up" into a pot twice the size using the neat pre fert soil, your seedling will be big enough and have enough roots to deal with the strong soil by now. This will feed yr plant fine for the next 2-3weeks, and depending how long u plan on vegging for u can do this again into larger pots for another 2-3weeks, then by the time yr ready to flower yr plant will have depleted the soils nutrient reserves and u can start yr feeding schedule without burning yr plants.

surprised nobody has told u this already but you can determine sex before putting it under a 12/12 regimen and without taking any clones and sexing them either! JUST VEG YOUR PLANT. when yr plants start to reach sexual maturity typically when they are around 4-5weeks old providing they are not stressed, will show u their sex, preflowers, during the normal 18/6 or 24/0 veg cycle without u needing to do anything. e.g the pic below is the 8th node up of one of my 4week old big buddha cheese under 18/6 and as of yesterday has just started showing a female pre flower, i dont know if u can see or not but i can assure u theyre there, the tiny calyx and two hairs? In a few more days itl be more prominent and il expect a few more pre flowers to show.

have youi been pulling fan leaves from the bottom?.
also looks like you are over feeding, due to the brown tips on the ends of the tips of the fan leaves.
you dont need to be feeding yet, they is food in the soil for the 1st 4 weeks or so.
other than that it looks ok.

dont cut leaves, when the plant has finished with any given leaf it will drop off itself or will come off with the slightest pull, if u can gently pull the leaf and it doesnt come off the plant needs it, only time i ever physically cut leaves is late in flower when u wana remove any dying leaves to prevent them moulding up in yr bud, even then they mostly come of with a very gentle pull.

3 X 23 Watt Flourescent 1800 Lumen bulbs.

I haven't been feeding it anything now, just plain tap water.

Maybe I should use distilled?

i assumed from this statement u were feeding? So u havnt fed anything to the plant in its water at all? Cant u provide any info on the soil other than "dunno what soil"? Did u buy it? Did it come in a bag? Does it say anything on the bag? Soil from the Back garden? Stolen from the nextdoor neighbours orchid pots? Something? Are u allowing the soil to dry and the pot become light between waterings? How far do you keep those lights from the plants? Are they cfl's or tubes? Do u have extraction and air exchange sorted?
