I trust my dog more then I trust ppl...my dog has never met a stranger , very loveable dog but never act aggressive towards my kids , that's the only time I've seen her get upset...been sleeping with me since she was 2 days old
looks very similar breed to mine, lotsa pink bits, mine lays in the sun seeming like its trying to get a tan, but it only makes his pink bits pinker the fool...lol

This thread is the pits!

I can only speak on my dog but he's been around kids from newborns on up. He's incredibly gentle and loving with everyone. They used to be called "the nanny dog" because they protected children. They were also Americas mascot for world war 2. Sad what's happened to them. We didn't pick him he definitely picked us at the shelter. Never thought I'd have a pitbull. I've been around dogs all my life and he is the most well behaved dog I've had. IMO it's all about knowing what the breed is capable of. They are strong athletic dogs. So many times I read a horror story and its "4 pitbull a and 3 babies in a one bedroom apartment".... Well.....duh!

Rottweiler. The damage it caused was like a scratch compared to what he could have done if he wanted to. He could have snapped my arm in half easily. Dog was giant.

Not a particular fan of that breed :) They are just too damn big. That said I carried one with fucked up hips out of my neighbours house. It was one of the saddest days of my life. Even in the end where snapping at someone would have been justified in her condition she was still as gentle as could be.
Yeah, those are big dogs!

My buddy has a Cane Corso....holy shit! You could throw a saddle on that thing and ride it.

lol...they can be the ultimate sook, but when shocked or provoked out comes the glistening fangs & its goodnite irene for anyone in their path...well mines like that anyway
I see what mine does to tree limbs (he's obsessed with sticks). Crazy stuff. He turns them into mulch. I wouldn't leave mine alone with a small child, but I wouldn't leave a cocker spaniel alone with a small child. All dogs are wild animals at heart and you can never be 100% sure with an animal (less with humans lol).

But a pit is a dog just like any other. Good ones. Bad ones. I guess the difference is in the damage they can do. I think all dogs that end up mauling people/dogs always display some sort of warning signs. Many people choose to ignore them.

Edit: I don't think a pit is for everyone. They need a strong leader that can give them tons of exercise. Daily. Mine has also been taught "NILF" (nothing in life's free). You want dinner? You better be sitting. You want me to open that door? Lay down.

If you're considering getting one I would do research but I highly highly recommend giving one a chance. I'm so glad I did because I couldn't imagine life without him. Sorry to ramble but it's something that I'm pretty passionate about these days. I think they get a seriously bad rap for the most part.

Ps. Dude is trying to lay across my keyboard right now. If you're not into having a personal fan club 24/7 don't get one!:)

lol..thats a funny 1 you got alright...they are real characters & need all the above mentioned attention, i got mine mainly as a watchdog & he fulfills that task well, & of course how can i not like his pigger antics too, but yes...not for everyone

Bob yours and mines sound just the same she's a big baby but I know she would protect the house if anything happened. You couldn't have said it any better with that post and that's where most people mess up as you cant keep a dog that needs at least a hour of exercise in the house cooped up all day asking for trouble. Plus like you said bad dogs always show some type of sign before bad things happened and it never corrected. I love them too bro my favorite dogs and never been a dog person really but my girl is the best ever

cant wait to see the crosses again
