Go figure, politicians fabricating reality.
aren't you the guy who invented a reality wherein manmade global warming is a decades in the making hoax all designed to dupe you out of your money even though you are given subsidies for switching to alternative energy?

Fascist America. Someone has to say it;

Mass Incarceration for petty 'crimes'- like a bag of weed.

Privatized Prisons- so large corporations can profit from their suffering, and worse, use tax deductible(seriously!) lobbying dollars to encourage (bribe) politicians to fund ways TO INCARCERATE MORE PEOPLE!

Militarized Police; military weapons, attitudes and tactics and increasingly staffed by former military; that is, those trained specifically to break things, kill people and not respect our civil liberties. The 'good' guys are murdering thousands of American citizens a year, but thanks to...

Separate Justice- for the police and the privileged (those who can afford to defend themselves), that means judicial outcomes are based on money, power and influence rather than fairness or the facts.

RICO- all but tramples the citizen's Constitutional Right to undue search and seizure without due process. Unless you're one of the privileged, of course.

The 'Patriot Act'- stomps on the rest of the American citizen's Constitutional Rights. Unless you're one of the perimeter, of course.

'Homeland Security'- which is a many headed hydra with no accountability to American citizens- against whom it's being increasingly unleashed for any excuse, 'just' or not.

AMERICA IS ALREADY A FASCIST STATE RIGHT NOW. TODAY!

Any questions?

...and let's not forget who started it all, our very own Defense Industrial Complex, without whom we might very well be getting on much more harmoniously with our earthly neighbors.

I didn't say we don't need a national defense; of course we do. But I really don't sleep better at night knowing that America's defense budget is the same size as that of the next twelve largest countries on earth...COMBINED.

Why do we need to spend $1.5 TRILLION DOLLARS on a fighter plane that's already an obsolete boondoggle? Because the shareholders of Boeing and Lockheed Martin each have one of the most powerful legal and lobbying firms on earth, and they want their quarterly earnings reports to look good, no matter if it's bankrupting the country.

Under Reagan, there was at least thin justification, what with winning the Cold War and all. Now, there's no threat that justifies even a quarter of our current defense budget, except that 'jobs would be lost!' in EVERY SENATOR'S DISTRICT. This isn't coincidence, it's legalized, institutionalized corruption- only its worse than mere racism, it's militarism run amok. Accountable to no one, certainly not an unsuspecting American populace.

But don't worry; we just put our country's latest Great Depression behind us... or did we? Who remembers what happened after the last depression 'ended'? Anyone?

Does WORLD WAR TWO ring any bells?!

Goddammit, history is repeating itself; and now the greedheads took over our government AGAIN and are steering us towards another war, and another, and another... cuz, you know, they're profitable!

Only now with nuclear weapons in the world such brinksmanship risks everyone, no matter who, no matter where and no matter how rich. Such is their folly, and We the People must stop them before it's too late.

Think I'm painting an alarmist, extremist position? I'm open to debate.

"What difference does it make."

Seriously, who gives a shit about a politician and whether he's cool or not regarding pot? Here you guys are focusing on irrelevant crap, the freedom to self medicate, while we got a world wide terrorist problem that has come to America, infrastructure needs, the need for more jobs, better education, race relations, etc.

ttystikk, you're the pot calling the kettle black. You're so brainwashed by the wacked out RIU Group Think you're lost in space.

If you say so... the only trouble with your dismissive attitude towards this is that you haven't personally investigated a damned thing; you just sit back and let the right wing wind machine tell you not just what to think, but how.

If you think my perspective comes from RIU, think again. I have access to people who've spent their whole careers in diplomacy, intelligence and the bowels of the aforementioned Military Industrial Complex. They've told me what they see from their perspective and the picture that's emerging is not what is being shoveled from the mass media outlets.

Having come to this terrifying worldview, I've tried to refute it- and failed.

So your stupid, dismissive attitude towards the evidence of the coming storm is now just one more data point; 'many people don't know/care or are suckered by the right wing fear and hate propaganda'- which is the greatest threat to our future.

I don't think you're smart enough to realize you're as disastrously wrong as you are- and that's fine. I'm writing this for the two or three dozen other people reading this who might have a more open mind.

I'm 66, so don't preach to me you snot nosed kid. I've seen it all and know better.

You mean the few inexperienced left wing dumbasses who make up the RIU Group Think clique?:spew:

Enjoy your (dysfunctional) comfort zone.

Interesting that none of the respondents to my OP have referenced marijuana and the various vacuous positions/policies expressed by any of the putative candidates.
All of the candidates seem to be afraid of enthusiastic endorsement for eradicating the current federal prohibition of cannabis.
I wonder why?
Never mind.
Scaredy cats, all of them...yup!

There ya go, when you run out of logic you start the namecalling. Congrats, you're old, washed up and out of touch and you think that what you see on tv has anything to do with the reality on the ground.

How much money is acceptable to you for politicians to forcibly take from people to fund the warfare / welfare apparatus before it becomes theft?

How much money is acceptable to you for anyone else, you, me or anyone to take from people against their will to fund our goals before it becomes theft?

What's the difference ?

why do you refuse to state that it should be illegal for adults to have sex with pre-pubescent children?

You know, if you scrape all that ideological shit off your boots, you might find that our positions are closer than you think.

I'm saying Amerika is currently a fascist state. I don't need any ideological drivel to convince me, just the facts. You'd be more persuasive if you tried using some of them, too.

Oh hello Poopy Pants.

Illegal? I don't view laws as moral guide lines like you appear to. So you're asking me that question in that manner is sort of confining my viewpoint to your manufactured construct.

It should be illegal to force people to do things if they have not consented to them, is almost the answer I could give you, but if a person hasn't consented to being part of the system which arbitrarily says what is and what is not illegal then it gets kind of dizzying wouldn't you say?

...I would say I don't like the idea of 17 year olds shitting on floors that don't belong to them, and adults having sex with children or sucking a babies foreskin off in some kind of "religious ritual" are all things I can't condone.

Sometimes we might believe in the same things. Except you think it is okay to use non defensive force against people to make them do the things you want them to do, I don't. At a given point, you become inconsistent and must resort to a rationalization.
