I recently had a 4/1 male/female ratio out of a 5'er of pennywise but my room was way too hot to pop seeds, and I knew I shoulda waited but no matter what I usually get 60/40 female/male ratio at worst with tga's beans but I couldn't wait.. Most times I get too many fems with tga's beans... Not a bad thing but when space is tight it is... Anyhow the pheno I got had fattish/square indica looking leaves in veg, not too much stretch (clones) when flowered to speak of... and was ok as far as smoke but I don't put any faith in from seed plants, I have to grow from clone 2-3 times before I'll say keeper or not unless it's obviously a herm or wrong in some way but I think a seed grow is pointless for anything other than a "preview"... and clones obviously...
But anyhow vegged out 7 PERFECT penny clones, 1 lagged behind because of a late transplant so I had 6 LOVELY clones in my 4x8 under 1-1000 watter for almost 4 weeks of 12/12 when I threw in 3 cheesequake plants and turned on the 2nd 1000 watt light/timer etc...
Now I run separate mechanical timers for 2 lights in the same tent; and "usually" if they remain in sync, everything is ok with them... Well at week 4 or so of 12/12 for those 6 lovely penny clones that I vegged for 2 months +/-, I put those cq's in, set and double checked and rechecked those 2 mechanical timers making sure they were within 5-10 minutes of each other, hung out until it was time for the lights to cycle off, saw one light go off (the one that was running with the penny clones and had them looking bud-dacious) and looked at the other timer and saw that it was a few minutes behind so it was late and I was tired so I said "ehhh.... It's a mechanical, it's good..." Im going to bed...
For the next week or 2 I had been trying to get in to the room early so I could watch the lights come on and know they both were off for night time, but I ended up having a very busy week or 2 so I was basically only able to do what I call "the bare minimums"... Watering, record keeping/pruning when needed etc... But very little extras or time for much else... But when using supersoil, that's basically how a grow should be on a daily basis, easy... But I started to notice the cheesyquakes weren't showing pistils as they should be in the 1.5-2week range, and my penny's were looking funny.... Hmmm what is going on... I checked the timers 4-5 times during that 2 weeks or so because I'm neurotic... But I know my cheesequake phenos and by day 7-14 they're popping pistils like crazy, so hmmm. ???? .... Finally one day I had time and decided I needed to figure out what the deal was, I picked up the timer that ran the cheesequake side of the tent and spun the dial to where it should have shut the light off.... went right by the "off" setting but the light didn't shut off... After spinning the dial on the timer 4-5 times my worst fear was realized... The light had been on 24/7 since I put the cheese quakes in.... I dun fucked up and revegged 6 of the best looking plants I've worked on in probably a year... Anyhow I hacked down the 2 weakest looking penny's (there wasn't any weak looking anything), culled all the cheesequakes and kept the 4 best penny's which look and smell similar to ocans description now after being BACK under 12/12 for 2-3 weeks now, lemony with big calyx's but now I have no idea where they stand as far as finish time but they finish when they're done IMO... But I will run the pw again but I need some void-age for myself which is what took the place of those cheesequakes and penny's I culled...
On a side note, how's the pheno working for your friend with MS ocan? The gal I'm a caregiver for has MS and were also trying to find strains that will help with/eleviate her nerv pain.... The seed plant penny I gave her worked ok... But as i said I gauge nothing from seed.... My 2 cheese quake phenos are favorites of hers but we need some new choices for her... I'm in the process of banzai-ing my keepers and plan on grabbing some new beans in the next month or so but sub has like 8 new strains out since I've last looked.... Killer purple and hurkle have my attention but I haven't made my mind up yet...
