Just to chime in, I wont repeat with most have said, but I agree. If you are going to do hydro at least do coco. Pretty forgiving, and shit grows great in it. There is a place in MI that has great nutes too (MBFERTS) unless you've already got that taken care of. You can have bugs with any medium FYI.

It's going to be a lot of work and keep in mind you'll obviously have more to worry about on electricity and costs than just your 1000 watters. There are a lot of variables. I am just now switching to automated feeding. You are gonna have to bust ass to stay on top of this, but with friends help you could do it. I really think your biggest problem is going to be feeding and PH and the issues that go with that. Perpetual is the way to go for sure. It's all about timing then and running strains with known timeline. Also, I would suggest running as few strains as possible to start. That will simplify your feeding.

Best of luck. You really should do a grow journal on this. I am interested to see. Look at it this way. This could serve several purposes. 1. You destroy it and have some killer bragging rights. 2. You succeed and it serves as an educational piece. 3. You fail and it serves as an educational piece. 4. It's entertainment.

You have at least a 50% chance of fulfilling any of these purposes. And at most 75%. 3 & 4, Or 1,2, & 4.

Greetings rollitup community, I have been studying for years before my first attempt and I want to get this rite the first time. That being said I'll jump rite in.
I have a budget of $17,000 and want to start with hydro to cut down on veg/flower time. (I understand the taste difference but I need to become self sustainable in the shortest amount of time)
I'm going to get 10 1000w HID's two will be converted to HPS just for flowering and I'm going to cycle 4 stations (2 lights a table) for veg. If I time this rite I can have a continual harvest.
Other equipment I'm going to get includes AC, water cooler, carbon air filters, co2 tanks, pumps, bluelabs guardian monitor, ext ext.
I will be renting that always sucks but there are a few things I'm not sure about including what hydro setup, nutrients, whether to mainline or trim, and safety. I have not found a house yet I'm moving mid November.

Any thoughts hit me up I'm open to critique.

I apologize for spelling and punctuation math is my shit.

I haven't added the cost of an electrician ether so if anybody has a rough estimate please post it.

Thank you for your time and help
peace love and crabs.........
I say you are trying to bite off something you can't chew. You are asking about advanced battle maneuvers and you haven't even been to boot camp.

I'll be in touch guys and thank you mad prophessor I understand that your looking out for me but with vented hoods, an AC, fans the heat should be kept to a minimal and humidity shouldn't be that bad with a couple of dehumidifiers... I have helped growers in cali me and a buddie took care of 90 before this is just my first on my own I understand the importance of environmental control, PH, MC, and the progression of NPK throughout the life cycle I know its work but its the best stressful work I've ever done and it pays off if a pound goes for a grand I'll still make my money back.

Regardless of outcome this should be an interesting thread when I kick it in gear

What do you mean if a pound goes for a grand?

Ya where do you live where a pound goes for a grand, shit an oz goes for $200 where I'm at a pound for $2000-$2400 and that's cheap.

A wholesale grower should be able to sell as much weed as he wants at $1600/lb where I'm at.

I'll keep the coco in mind and I'll write a grow journal for sure.

It shouldn't be bro. That can't be your market. Can you tell us about the strains your going to be running?
I was thinking Zeus, Morpheus, I would like to get some sativa dominate strains as well I enjoy a head high... but the Zeus has a pretty damn good yield.
basically its in the air rite now I want a high yielding plant to make the bulk of the 72 and then a couple artisanal strains like rock bud or something like that.

og, ak, ext is over abundant where I'm moving it I want to give people something a little different.

and btw I'm saying worse case scenario 1lb - $1000 I would still be afloat... someone can piece out a pound for $6000 I should get at least half that for quality shit.
that being said I'm not going to be surprised if my first crop is less than kript.... I just know that I can do better for my area then whats here now.

Sorry bro, with 72 plants, the only thing he is gonna learn is how to lose money on a massive scale (in just the power bill alone). Trying to grow a dozen or less would run him ragged and he still would be struggling to learn anything. It takes years to get things dialed. Setting up a perpetual is hard work. Just getting the timing down so there are no lulls and all the while, you will have the normal issues that arise in any grow (especially for a newbie) is gonna be a full time job.

The bottom line is this: growing is a lot or work. It is not an easy job and requires you to be there every day. It is rewarding for sure, but if you think you can just set it and forget it, you will have a very rude awakening.
My very first grow was 144 clones i purchased while waiting on the clones to arrive i set up 2 rooms understanding the importance of ventilation i kept that in mind
first purchase was mylar and a staple gun and went to work covering rooms including floor next day i went out and purchased 4000 watts of mag ballasts i was amazed that for only 140.00 bucks i got ballast bulb and a reflector so i went ahead and put them in rooms 2 per next day after that after calculating ventilation i went out and purchased 2 exhaust fans and plumbing around 900 bucks ..
came home and started putting that in place i ran 2 intake lines direct outside air and placed them down low on floor with 1 " pvc reducers in certain points of dry line
As or exhaust fan i ran 10 " T being they were 10 " fans reducing the line to 4 " to match my 4 " exhaust holes / vents that went directly outside and i had two 4" holes again reducing and using dry vent to complete that
Wa la my room was done passive intake one exhaust fan themostatically controlled so dialed in more or less to From there i went and purhased stand up fans 20 " fans for like 20 bucks stand up yee haw now i all need was timers and one station to plug it all in with safety in mind total days to build 2 rooms 3 nice and easy with lots of beer drank lol

4th day i purchased soil 24 Cubic yards worth 2 super b trailers :) as for pots had them but really 20 - 40 cents per no big deal
clones came yee haw hee yaw treated them or any mites etc and placed both trays under 1 -1000 watt light still in 1 " cube trays light was 4 feet above clones next day went to work placing soil into pots and transplanting 3 gallon pots was pretty simple really see i used 5 huge totes to make my soil mixture one tote had sea compost , next tote had sheep manure , other sand etc etc etc
See the main soil was already made:) i was just adding some goodies for the intial food for the plant ..so with that said it was rather real easy to grow 144 plants and everyone being hand watered at the beginning i used 5 gallon pail eventually came to 15 gallons to finally 50 gallon drum filled 4 times to feed them 144 plants
I am being straight up here 20 70 100 plants is not hard to do its paying attention to detail writing down nutrient feedings etc so you had something to fall back on actually was a piece of cake gallery_11738_4816_76170.jpggallery_11738_4816_59280.jpg gallery_11738_4816_67835.jpg Afganstan.jpg

strain was pure Afghanistan and like anything else was thinking making 30 pounds hahaha truth is one room i kept 2000 watts in it replaced one reflector with one umbrella style reflector other room had 3000 watts in it adding 3rd 1k 4th week in flower vegged 5 weeks both rooms again thinking 30 - 40 pouds like a idiot hahaha i yielded 16 - 17 pounds only thing i have to admit was hard was trimming which i used a trimmer from a friend where i think i lost some yield they tend to rip up buds also had 6 people trimming also the smell from drying scared the hell out of me really scary first couple of days specially if a person was to get caught one could expect a 10 year sentence
