I was lsting a little to tough on her. and yeah.. I've read zip ties work along the split, and also tape and that it'll bust right through the tape when it knuckles. will it mend back together or? if I zip tie do I eventually remove the zip ties, and how if so?

which is your preferred method. I'm most scared of fungus or it getting infected.

here it is.

Undo what ever you did. Then bring the branches together. So that split comes together ASAP. Then you can use anything clean and gentle or soft to hold it together. Zip ties are way to rigid. I would use rubber coated wire myself. I've got some really nice flexible wire with thick soft rubber coating. It's what I use when ever I need to do anything to my plants. What ever you use you don't want it to be rigid like the ties because that stem will get thicker with age. So you don't want to "choke" the stem.

Twist ties, like on bread bags, are one thing. Zip ties,or cable ties, are a bitch to get off when the plant starts forming a callous where it heals and forms one as well around the cable tie.

Well this is the other problem with zip ties. I can't honestly say. Because if you use snips when you squeeze it might deform/twist and damage the stem. But it's still probably the best bet. Using a razor I think you're more likely to splice the stem. What every you choose be careful. This is why I suggested what I did. It's similar to a twist tie how it goes on AND off.

the weight of the two top main leads, at the split, was gonna make both of the branches desiccate. good call on the zip ties, it became like spine fusion.

Your girl should heal up ok. I split a stalk as well lsting, a little worst than yours, and like goldberg71 stated: I used a garden twist tie to keep the stem together. It's two weeks later and she's just fine. IMAG0604.jpg
