Just moved from Salinas last year. Looks like Disneyland next to the bad lands in north philly. This is late 90s philly at least. Last time I was there. But from what I hear it's no better
Of course there's some really shitty parts to it, but Salinas changed quite a bit, when all the new housing was built. And changed even more when property values skyrocketed. I made 400k profit when I sold in '05 :hump:
But the year I had moved there, president Clinton visited. Salinas was the #1 murder per capita in all of California.
I loved growing indoor there. No Ac needed in the summer.
But the jail. Fuck me running! I did a 9 month jail sentence in that mother fucker. In lock down every single fucking day, because of bullshit.
Fuck Monterey County.

Don't move to Grays Ferry...that's where the zoo is...in more ways than one...try to find a place in Manyunk...the rents are cheap and its easy to hop on the expressway and get into center city fast. Great views too of boathouse row and the art museum.
Best steaks are at Jims on 4th and South. Genos is good and Pats is good...only dif is Pats chops their meat and Genos doesn't. Both use the same cut of beef. Order a wiz wit and say it like that. Its cheese wiz and fried onions. Slammin.
Curiously both Genos and Pats are directly across the street from one another and both do boomin biz. They're located on 8th below Washington Ave
good call on manyunk.. it's a bit out of center city, but not by much, just outside of the art museum area and boat house row, right on the skukyl river.. it's a nice area with lots of nice restaurants and bars and what not..
