Early Signs of Defeciency

well put ShLuby!
I only use the crab, neam and DE in my top dress/mulch layer for pest prevention. works wonders. not much getting down to plants until after i recycle my mix. when the mulch and everything gets mixed back in for next round. this has worked for me,But as you said may not work for others. But i get away with not haveing to reammend until round 3 or 4. just fresh compost and airation each round.

does red wood contain tannin? not sure but i know you want to watch out for that stuff.
I actually wanna ad DE cause I had a problem with pests a couple weeks back. and oh man was it stressing me the fuck out. also silica is good for the plants, I've read.

so with the 30 to 70 perlite to ewc and light top dress of mulch if it doesn't contain tannin.. lol how would I mix DE into that? like a heavy ring above all that. or mixed in to the perlite and ewc. or mixed with a light layer of mulch thay I will be top dressing with.

If you are growing outdoors in a smart pot there is a very good chance that your plants will need more water than indoors. This extra watering is going to leach out your SS nutes very fast. You should not be getting any yellow leaves with a SS that is maintained properly, unless you have cold temps. There are big time advantages to using SS with myco fungi and regular AACTs. In high temps you will need to do some top dressing as well, I like to use organic 5-5-5 until I see that it is not keeping up.

Lastly, pretty obvious the white stuff is not PM, but residue.
damn are you that good?! shit are you sure? it's been driving me nuts trying to figure out if it's residue or pm. I swear I'm going crazy. lol well that puts me at ease. but like how sure are you that it isn't pm?

Scope it and know for sure. PM does not grow down veins but in circles outward. If you scope it and see little fiber optic like things going in all directions, you have mold. But it looks to me that the white is on your tips and down a lot of veins, where your sprays accumulate.

I don't have experience with spinosad but I know that many bacteria based products like that have a lot of dissolved sugar in them listed as "inert ingredient" or something similar. Anywhere you apply heavy and this sugar water pools, you will get sugar crystals as it dries out. When I mix up Actinovate extra strong, I always see this. So I'm not 100% sure, but suspect that is what you have. I almost went crazy figuring it out on my girls. Good luck!
