Total Noob Frankenstein Grow

High everybody!

I am a total noob in every way. I fact, I never even tried MJ until my mid 30s. Now I have been an enthusiastic fan for about a year. On a whim, I decided to plant some bag seed, just to see if anything would grow. It did. Now I have three big ol bushy plants and three seedlings. I don't know if the plants are male or female so I figured I would grow them until I could sex a single female plant and dispose of the rest.

The problem is that I don't want to purchase all the lights and equipment to properly grow six plants. I want to start small with one and gradually add to my gardening supplies as finances allow. So, as you can see, I have a shitty little frankenstein grow from random parts around the garage. It's a mess but somehow these little babies just keep pooping out more leaves.

I was thinking of flipping them with some high phosphorus nutes and a 12/12 cycle then watch carefully for male or female indicators and then focus all my care to the happiest female or two.

itd prob be more low stress on the plant if you just took some cuttings,put them in water and induced 12/12.those clones will flower just as soon and you can decide wether you wanna veg the initial plant more after you find out sex

If those are T8 long tube fluorescent are the tubes 6500K or thereabouts? You can buy a case of 10 for less than $40 from Home Depot. Those can veg them forever until you are better set. As to money, lights and pot - there ain't no free lunch.

That's also a good idea. I have thought about that also. I already cut the lights a handful of times but don't think that's enough to induce flowering from a few days. Plus I haven't added any blooming fertilizer.

Basically my struggle is that I keep reading about pre-flowering and I look so carefully at the nodes but don't see any signs. It's all just leaf tips.

They are the big t12 kind. Yeah, they are 6500K. One is 4100K to replace a faulty one. I was just going to use them to start seedlings and get veg going but I figured I would prop them on the side to provide a little extra light since I have them anyway.

The CFLs are 100 watt equivalent at the warmer 3000 range. Once I figure out what I'm doing I'll buy another half a dozen or so and try to arrange them close to the leaves.

Maybe I should just keep everything vegging and try the clone idea to sex them and get rid of the males.

Go with more tubes before those low wattage little CFL. I used the tube fixtures to start all seedlings and veg them by keeping them right on top of the plants.They stay pretty bushy with shorter internodal spaces making them really productive once they bud.

Hotrodharley is right dude.....hang those tubes right over top of the plants and place the pots in a row under them. Use the cfl as some sidelighting.
will give ya way better growth.
As long as you run the lights in vegmode its not guarateed to get preflower at all.
run them a week under 12-12 or 14-10 for a minimum or more to get them sexed. If you want to keep a mom take cuttings prior sexing.

Plants looking excellent ,very big well done bro.growing become's more addictive,i think even more so then smokeing.

And every grower is all ways on a learning curve and trying to better every grow,you have done really well,and for your first grow even more so.
If you are thinking of flowering try and get a yellowish or red tube,if possible and you have the money get hps and youshould get a decent yeild
from your first on.

Or if you continue with the lights that you have in the picture then get some mylar,and make some way of getting the light hung over the plants with the mylar on the walls,you should still do well all though i would veg for a little longer,dep on the height you have
