Nutrient Lock Out?? Help Please!

Ok so i have 2 Jack Herer plants that I have been running 12/12 from seed due to my limited grow space of about 3.5 feet. I have a 400w hps light with a reflectore hood and it's 2ft above my plants. For the first two weeks I was using tap water with no ph meter. The second week I used nutrients at 1/4 strength and no signs of nothing just nice and green. The day before the third week I transplanted them into nutrient rich soil ph at 6.5 and thought just using water only should be fine for awhile(so I thought). 4 days later they have a few yellow spots on some leaves here and there and thought GREAT. I had also received my ph meter in the mail the day before so what better time to use it. I tested my tap water and it was coming out at 7.3 and if I'm not mistaken plants can't get nutrients with that much alkaline right? Any way a few days went past and some of leaves were getting a purple tent to them and still had some yellow spots as well as a few tiny yellow holes now. The stem of my plants as well as under the leaves are very nice green color. I have been spraying them a few times every light schedule with 6.2 ph water and it hasn't gotten worse any but still hasn't went away so any info would be VERY awesome. Also some other people thought it was spider mites? But can't you see them? And don't they usually feed on new growth? As well as live under leaves?

Why are you messing with ph in a soil grow and why are you adding nutrients to such young plants in what your saying is nutrient rich soil. Good soil buffers ph naturally

Also I definately see chew marks on your leafs in your pics and those super dark green leafs are caused by to much N I would back off the extra food and get rid of what's eating on your plants

like couch said good soil buffers automatically look in the ingredients for dolomite lime , peat moss , perlite.... if u have these three ur soil is ph buffering and does not need ph'd

Don't see spider mites.spraying the leaves with ph ed water wont help. And you said you ph ed the water. Before adding nutes? Usually most brands of nutrients will buffer the ph to a safe ph. Have you ph ed after mixing your feed? They also make ph down if you want.

I'm not using any nutrients or anything but water that I ph down to 6.2 with lemon juice

is there dolomite? and yes gnats are bad... try a fly strip and shake ur plants a little... if u get alot of gnats thats ur problem.... dolomite lime has a nuetral ph of 7.... so ur soil will buffer to 7.... id recommend getting a soil ph tester (like 9 bucks ) at any garden center ... the ph tester u dip is only reading the ph of your water and nutes not what ur soil is ...

The first couple sets of leaves look huge and a nice color. Gnats can be stopped with some mosquito crumbles from amazon. They take two weeks to work. One heeeaping tablespoon per 5 gallon plant.

There is some dolomite so yea I might have to get a soil tester. And the reason I asked about gnats is because I have seen one or two around this third week of growing so getting ride of those things would probably help with the yellow spots or holes at least?

I've never had them mess with my actual leafs directly but left untreated they plant larvae in the soil and once you get enough of those little basterds in the soil they can start munching on roots Either way there no good and a sanitary grow room is always the best policy

i see one or two all the time as im in a basement and its sumtimes moist.... if you see alot of gnats , might wanna do something about that.... if gnats isnt ur issue it may be from foliar feeding as water beads magnify light( different opinions on this) ....or chemical burn from misting ur plants.. especialy with lime juice which im assuming is acidic....

Is there any type of spray or liquid you can put into the soil to stop gnats early before it worsens or even has a chance to?

Well I started spraying my plants after a few days of the spots already being there due to I thought my water wasn't acidic enough but I haven't sprayed them today

I've tried lots of different methods for pests my favorites are neem concentrate and azamax I alternate between the two even before I have a problem and it prevents them My suggestion would be to invest in some neem oil it's cheap and the first thing I reach for at the first sight of mites I use it at 4ml of neem concentrate with a drop of soap in warm water 30oz spray bottle. Azamax is pricey but I use it 5ml 30 oz spray bottle That works for me hope this helps
