first grow, any advice?

Hey this is my first grow I have 2 feminized blue dreams seeds planted in fox farm ocean forest soil with 25% perlite added. I water once every other day and have them under 4 40w cfls 5700k for vegging. I just now transplanted from solo cups to gallon pots and have the humidity at 45% with 85-90 degrees.(unfortunately with having to be secretive the closet grow gets hot and can't be fixed, I do have 3 4" fans keeping air flow in and out of the box). How do my girls look being 11 days in the soil?

So far so good. Ditch the watering schedule. Just water when they need it.

Yeah well its not literal every other I wait till the top is crusty but with the heat its been about every other. Also the cotyledon on the bigger one is turning yellow all natural for that to happen by now correct?

Your CFLs are equivalent to 40w or 42w equivalent to 150w?
How bigs your grow space? I'd suggest being careful with how long you veg, they'll get huge and out of hand quick if you go to long and if you're limited on space that won't be good. My first grow ended up being a good 4ft tall out of nowhere, wasn't expecting it at all.

40w 150w equal. Grow space is 2ft by 15in and 4ft tall box. I planned to top my plant to get it more bushy and keep it at like 3ft if I can.

Looking good. Yes, it's natural for the cotyledons to yellow and fall off. They're just to start her off.

My advice.
Only water if needed.
Don't let pots sit in water after watering.
Be prepared to either transplant to bigger pot or start feeding nutrients within two weeks. Ffof only lasts so long nutrient wise.
Don't top untill she has at least 4-5 leaf sets, if at all. Let her build a root base first.
Think about cutting an exhaust up out of the closet and install a 4" exhaust fan.
85-90 temps are going to cause you many problems.
You can't force plants to accept your environment, get temps under 85 .

Thanks for all the info guys. With the temp I don't have much option to exhaust air out of the closet. I've heard mixed feelings on the temp being that it can grow naturally in higher temps what makes the difference indoors?

I'm a semi experienced grower, still with tons to learn, but I've mastered the basics.
I can barely maintain a healthy garden once temps go over 87*f in my grow room.
88*f - 92*f temps one hot run a few years ago caused a ton of problems and I was barely able to get a finish, for a new grower it just equals a fail , imo.
Good luck anyway. Make sure you suppliment with aspirin and silicon/silica to help fight the heat issue.

If you grow in higher temps, add co2 to help em grow and maintain.

I use 42w=150w's and I start with 1 and work my way up once it grows. At the size you're currently at you can just keep 1 on it, then as you need more coverage increase the amount of bulbs. I don't even get to all 4 bulbs until I start flowering after 1 month(i grow DWC so my timeline is a little faster than yours in soil though).

That will help with your current heat issue, of course you eventually have to get up to the 4 bulbs and will have the issue then but worth something I suppose. As for heat, I grew in mid to high 80's with no issues at all(again hydro not soil, idk if that makes a difference), I asked my hydro store guy about heat and he said no worries at all, keep in mind that pot grows in 90-100+ degree weather outdoors. But it sounds like HookahsGarden has seen issues from heat in their experience so I'm not discrediting what they're saying, sounds like this being your first time it could just add another variable to deal with.

Once again thanks for the tips guys. If it makes a difference when in at home I can leave the closet door open which makes it 82 degrees in there but 30% humidity. So I mean I'd say it gets half a day for high heat and half at 82. Dunno if it makes the difference tho.

This is an early sign of calcium deficiency.
Most likely caused by overly wet soil.

Are you letting her feet dry out, not just the top, the bottom needs to get dry as well.

IMO you should just grow a plant normally your first grow and learn your lighting schedules good watering habits and nutes before you start different techniques to manipulate the growth of the plant ..........if you absolutely have to mess with it i would have just done lst in your case being new to growing. But honestly just get good at growing a normal plant and then start adding stuff after your familiar with growing. Gotta crawl before you walk. Good luck

I've been letting the top dry out not the bottom so I'll try to hold off a little more and see if it helps. Thanks hookahsgarden for the help and I'm jug worried a normal grow will be too tall for such a small space I figured topping and Lst would help me ensure it says around 3 foot or less tall

deff let it dry out right through .. you don't want those beautiful fuzzy white roots being over saturated.. I water when they need it. sometimes when I think they need it I will wait just one more day to ne sure.. don't over do the nutes !!!! less is more !
