That over size a/c helps if the summer temps are 3 digits...We had a room 12x12 and used a 2 ton window unit...10 foot ceilings...5 1000w hps lights...unit never shut off.trying to hold 76 degrees.

Last week,I installed a 30,000 btu mini split in a 12x12x8 foot ceiling...guy was running 6-600w hps...the room was ice cold.
He was running the new double ended light.6 flood tables with 36 plants ea.
2 lbs a table

In my neck of the woods..PGE hits us for .35 per kw.
I like the looks of the new Sun System LEC 315 Ceramic light...1/3 the draw and the output of the 1000 watter!

No it isn't. It's 25% better than HPS, and that's from people here on RIU running them. For a good ratio, think three of the 315W lights replacing two 600W HPS.

Whats up dude.
Here's a cut and paste i had just typed out in that other thread on my phone. What a pain in the ass! Lol
it would cost me it would cost me around 7 to 800 to cool the gavitas alone. at what everyone is recommending for the mini splits. unless Im calculating wrong and the mini split wont be running all day. my central heat and air in the summer is running all day and my bill is 350 a month
I'm in Norcal also dude. 34 cents a kwh. Bullshit hah!
See, this is what I did when I replaced all my air-cooled single endeds(still have some):
Each air-cooled light covered a 4'x4' area(trays). 4000 btu of ac per light.
I'm rockin those DE's i keep showing over 4'x6' areas now. 6000 btu of ac per fixture(at 1150 watts)
So, almost 1/3 less lighting, but the same amount of AC as before.
Just about the same power costs(less actually) but more yield:hump:

Sweet Jesus...sounds to good to be true?but it is a true story here...I claim a 30% discount from PGE...for being a poor old bastard now....so my savings is way cool.
