2014 was definitely the hottest year on record

No one is disputing all the hottest years have happened in our lifetimes, which is itself the merest sliver in the climate tree.

So that in itself screams 'change!' plenty loudly enough for me to hear it and take heed.

It isn't even hard to follow the money back from the pseudo scientists to their ultimate funding sources; those who would lose vast profits from action on global warming. Why don't these people feel duped?

What's wrong with funding better and cleaner energy sources than coal, and using them more efficiently? Why not subsidize renewable energy to at least the same extent as coal and oil... or better yet, end the subsidies for fossil fuels altogether?

Have you guys seen what strip mining is doing to Wyoming? Have any of you even been to an open pit mine? It's not a pretty site, it's not clean and it's not environmentally friendly. Putting it mildly.

One of the main arguments I hear against the idea of improving energy infrastructure is the cost; that developing renewable energy sources is expensive and economically inefficient. Which is weird because one of the four former EPA administrators who testified before congress last year, Christine Todd Whitman, said during that hearing that economic prosperity and investing in and developing these technologies are not mutually exclusive. The example she gave was that during the Nixon administration some of the tightest environmental regulations were set by the EPA directly targetted at the auto industry and GDP growth during that period wasn't affected at all.

Their arguments against improving our energy efficiency rely on false information and failed assumptions that don't hold up when under investigation. It's the same tactic the tobacco industry used to prolong potential sales. All they have to do is infuse doubt into the conversation, they don't have to prove anything, which is why you constantly hear in the opposition complaints that the science isn't settled, or that there's not enough information to conclude anything with accuracy yet, etc.

I know I'm just reading this from the outside and haven't seen the info but I gotta say putting "probability" in the chart sure makes it look pretty lame.

Post up the methodology they used to find this info. I heard that they were using "tree ring analysis" or some shit to determine climate from years before data was collected I'm sorry but I don't trust the government, so why should I trust nasa who is congress funded?

You should tell NASA that.
You should stop putting words in my mouth and accept the shit that was coming from yours for what it was. You simply didn't understand and was wrong. You were not really bright enough to figure it out so you dug in and doubled down. You got laughed at. You tried to change what was actually said.

You almost counted to potato, keep trying, you'll get there.

The polar caps are melting at an ever increasing rate. Glaciers are in decline worldwide. Some are already gone, like the one at the top of Mount Kilimanjaro. More and more frequent weather extremes. Stalled weather patterns. The list is endless.

It doesn't take a genius to see where all this is going. Renewable energy isn't the whole answer but it's a big part of it. Efficient use of energy is another worthy goal.

I'm working in this space now, bringing more efficient approaches to solving problems, because the benefits accrue to everyone; the climate and the pocketbook.

Climate scientists and environmentalists sounded the alarm this year after Japanese climatologists reported 2014 was the warmest year on record based on global surface temperature readings.

But satellite temperature data shows that 2014 was not even close to be the warmest on record. In fact, 2014 was only the 6th warmest year on record, according to the Remote Sensing System (RSS) satellite data set that measures the lowest few miles of the Earth’s atmosphere.

Christy said, “2014 was warm, but not special. The 0.01 degree Celsius difference between 2014 and 2005, or the 0.02 difference with 2013 are not statistically different from zero. That might not be a very satisfying conclusion, but it is at least accurate.”

Yes, it makes so much sense for me to ride my bike to work when 2 billion people are exponentially increasing their carbon footprint. Sounds like a perfect plan!!!

Renewable energy aint shit yet. Do you know how many thousands of endangered birds are killed by wind turbines per year now?

Solar isnt there yet.

The last information coming out of the Fusion Research field is a year and a half old...

Fossil fuels are used because they are the most energy efficient form of fuel for the cost. Once something is developed that is cheaper, it will be used instead. Once the fossil fuels are nearly used up the cost will make them prohibitive and again, something cheaper will replace them. We are not using whale oil for our lamps anymore.

"Climate scientists John Christy and Roy Spencer with the University of Alabama, Huntsville (UAH) said, “2014 was third-warmest, but barely.” UAH is home to the other major satellite climate dataset."

Are you smarter than Christine Todd Whitman?

You dont like the Remote Sensing System satellite data set? You need a link? I mean, you can find all sorts of liberal shit but your fingers seem broken when you even dream of trying to find something that might argue with your ideology.
