I agree I am bald and had to start wearing a hat in the room not only from the heat but I was getting sun burnt. Plus the visor helps with shading my eyes.

My last harvest. I pulled 4 full units under 2 gavita's and a 600mh in the middle. Plus a full unit of sugar trim.

Man I'm right on the edge of going out and picking up a few of these. I've got a couple 4x4 tents laying around that I was thinking about filling up and throwing a light in there.
Anybody have a direct comparison of these to a regular 1000w HPS? I can easily pull 16 or so off 3 plants in a tent under 1000w HPS. If I could drastically improve upon that I might go to the store right now
By drastically I guess I would say a 25% improvement. Any less than that I think it wouldn't be worth buying multiple $500 lights when I have a bunch of lights already sitting around here

I would NOT put a gavita in a 4x4. That's a waste of a gavita. They have A bigger foot print then. 4x4. You will probably actually see a decrease from heat and light intensity. A 1000w in a large hood is max for a 4x4 IMO and a 600w is about perfect.

I use all 600s in my big room but honestly regardless of what people say, I've noticed less of a yield and less dense buds when I use 600s.
Honestly I'll never use one again once I upgrade my panel at this new place. Never had power restrictions before so it's kind of a pain in the ass.

These tents I haven't used in a few years and they're both different brands. I think there is a possibility at least 1 could be a 5x5.
I also have portable AC units and tons of available ventilation so I dont think its something I wouldn't be able to handle if I planned for it. I was just trying to figure out if the gains are worth the added cost.

With your equipment and growing experience I think you'll be fine. That said, I'd probably buy the Nanolux DE today to use in a tent. They are under 400$ and the ballast is mounted horizontally with the DE bulb/reflector to give you a lower profile and about a half foot more headroom.

I would run the Gavitas on 750 mode in a 4x4 tent. And mount as high as possible. This setup will surely outperform a conventional 1000. I have seen someone doing in a 4x4 on full 1000 mode can't remember who but it was breeder on iseemag I do believe. Anyhow he pulled some ridiculous numbers.

I just bought 4 of the "og nanolux" digital 1000's and I could t be happier. Cool to the touch even after days of running. I'm super impressed. I got one running on a 20' extension cord plugged into 110 right now until my electrician can get over here and the cord doesn't even get warm.. I've had magnetic a plugged in to extension cords that get HOT HOT HOT so idk how nanolux got rid of so much heat but they did.

The OGs are the regular ballast right? A buddy of mine let me borrow one while back when I was in a tight spot that he wasn't using and it did the trick. I did remember it being pretty cool.
That was actually the last time I grew in a tent.
Gotta watch out with those extension cords though man, just keep an eye out. I know a guy who burned up half of his basement and ruined a whole crop from doing that. His plants were all weird after they were exposed to that smoke. Some of them had all leaves and they had bud sites but no actual bud growing out of them. It was sad. Bud growing out of the stem and shit, just all mutated looking.

There the digital ones. I'm not sure if their magnetic ones are "og" too or what. I'm pretty sure the ones I go are the last generation of nanolux that still had a fan. They have the new fanless designs now that have virtually no easily breakable parts. I got the older small rectangle black flat boxes. $150 on Amazon.
Just so everyone knows there's a couple spots selling HORTILUX hps 1000w for $55-65. "Overstock" sale at a couple Amazon sellers or something.. I got mine from grow green MI and drove down to pick them up but they ship too. There's also some xxl "reflectors" on Amazon for $55ish and they are what you pay for but they do the trick. Some major assembly required and no glass or ventilation but they work awesome when it's all said and done.. For those keeping score that's a brand new 1000w digital with an EYE HORTILUX and an XXL reflector for $265ish
And ya the extension cord will be gone in a day so I'm not too worried but like I said this little digital ballast doesn't even get it hot.. Idk how but it's all cool to the touch.

I talked to one of the guys at HTG today and they said they'll do the Ushio 1000w DE packages with bulb, ballast, and basic reflector for $380 and $20 more if you want dimmable.
It's like a cheap adjust-a-wing reflector but the guy said they had them at 8' or so high and he said there was around an 8'x8' footprint at the canopy with 3' in between the light and canopy. He said from the light to the canopy there was barely any difference in lumens from the middle to the outside edge.
It was kind of funny to see how excited he was to talk about it after I brought it up. Guy was pretty stoked about the results he was seeing. I think I'm gonna shop around a little and eventually pick up at least 1 to try out. If it works as good as it sounds I'll buy the rest.
EDIT: forgot to say I think this is with a Solis tek ballast. Forget what the guy was saying now after only a few hours lol
