Are these lights adequate for a 1 plant grow?

Yo guys,
So I'm pretty new to the whole growing scene but i was wondering if 2 of each warm and cool 23 watt CFL's would be sufficient lighting for a 1 plant grow.
Cheers :)

(btw would i be right to say that i need to use the cool white globes for the vegetative stage and the warm white globes for the flowering stage? )

Yes ^^

But the 23w cfl will get you about half a joint. you can germinate seeds for a week or so, but thats all they're good for sorry to say.

ebay, $20

A good starter for beginners and you dont want the spiral ones as they break in full, as the one in the pic has separate tubes like a flo, so they break in bits ..... less chance of getting caught out mid flower as they'll still have some tubes left.

Half a joint buddy sorry to say.

Thanks for the reply, my only problem is that I'm trying to buy locally and unfortunately buying of ebay etc... isn't really an option . I had another look and found some CFL's that had the same layout but are only 18w i know this is less wattage but if i was to set up 4 for one plant do you reckon this would be sufficient? (Im' pretty sure making it 72 watts overall)

72 watts you'll get about just over half a joint sorry to say, if you cant get off ebay then buy as many 23 watters as u can. like 20

100watts will not get you bud like you think you're going to get sorry.

Personally i would not put anything in less than 300 actual Watts. NOT EQUIVALENT. good luck!!

What country do you live in? CFL bulbs are everywhere in the USA. I hear that some 99c stores have 40 true watt cfls for 99c.. If you had 4-6 of these you could grow a nice plant. You want to mix the spectrum if you can. Surround the plant with light. I like 3 gallon pots. Veg for 3-4 weeks.

Other pointers:
There is no such thing as growing decent pot on a budget. For the most part you need good seed (feminized seed is best for small growers). Good light. Fans. Good soil. perlite. Quality nutrient line. PH adjusters. Clean, quality water. TDS meter. PH pen. A nice place to grow that will have 12 hours of uninterrupted dark.. reflective material. A place to vent hot air to.Light timer.Thermometer. Vent hoses. random knickknacks.Extension chords. Light hangers. MOST IMPORTANTLY YOU NEED A QUALITY CARBON FILTER AND VORTEX FAN.

You should also have a recommendation from your doctor or state "license". There is absolutely no reason to go to jail for 1/4 of crappy weed. Something tells me you are not in a legal state and maybe you are young and live at home still. If this is the case stick to buying weed. It's a big commitment and risk if it's not legal or if you lose your living situation.

Let's talk about carbon filters and stink control.
Okay so you buy 200 watts of decent CFL and you score some seeds that turn out to be female and you also spend another $200-$400 on random products to get setup. Your setup is totally stealth and nobody knows you are producing grade A ganja in your closet. Your plants sprout and in two to three weeks they are a foot tall.. Guess what. You will be able to smell them from across the street. Now your stelth setup is not stealth at all.
Now you go to youtube and watch hours of video on how to make a homemade carbon filter. You spend $40 and half a day rigging some ridiculous contraption. Now you can only smell your plants from your side of the street.
To properly manage temps and smell you have to have a vortex fan and carbon filter. These start at $120 and are only available via the internet or hydro store.

I've gotten off the subject here, I'd encourage you to think about all of the costs and ramifications of growing and decide on your commitment level. All of the help in the world is available right here and in books if you decide to commit.

Do it, brother. Go for it with what you can do. It will be a learning experience and get you some smoke. In the meantime you can look for better options. Not negating opinions above, just encouraging you to do what you want to do with what you can get and get started. Remember though - the more watts the more pot.
