Non vented ballasts

Hi, whilst I get the difference between non vented and vented ballasts what's the benefits of either?

I'm not sure if you're talking about a ballast which is simply inside a slotted container; or a ballast which is connected to an exhaust system. In either case the benefit is the same - but for different reasons. A ballast in a slotted case allows the ambient air to enter and exit easily and quickly - keeping the ballast cooler. A ballast connected to an exhaust system makes the warmed air leave the grow area - keeping the grow area cooler.
