Mars hydro 2

I need to ask, I just bought 2 x 300watt galaxyhydro lights, I can't get a good answer on light distance to canopy, I was told 8 inches to 48 inches. Can you set the record straight for me.
Thanks
It's all over the place, depending on what you're doing with them, but in general you can run them at 24" to 30" for seedlings, clones. I run them around 18-24" for veg. For flowering more like 8"-12". I run a small 2x2x4' tent with 200w of COB and I've run those as close as 6" to some tops with no problems when I didn't judge the stretch right.

Well after doing some light research if I were to go led it would have to be American made no chineses shit with customer service only in the middle of the fucking night. That seems to be the marshydros biggest complaints. It's only going to be a small room and height is 7.5' so the led advantages intrigue me. Keeping the room at the proper temp would be much easier and the plants can get closer to the lights without burning them. ADV LED seem to have much better customer reviews. I can't find much on tastyLED other then his post on other sites. I'd like subjective reviews not just the word of the seller/builder.

M8 i run 6 mars led's and there good for veg . there about as good as u get for being in the bottom end price range . there new range witch is double the price look good but im with who ever through up the 315 cmh , there the best all round on the market for veg plus flower spectrum wise imo . And with a mars2 900 w costing roughly the same as the 315 theres no contest . Really only seeing a heat benefit with the led's in the homebox evo i have with the par reflective white material , stays cool in there but is a good 4 c highre in mylar tents . Luckily for me i had no warranty issues , cause dealing with the chinese on issues is painful cheers . ultimately im going to use 3 mars2 900w for veg and 4 cmh 315 from sun systems i think for flower . cheers all . Ps just spent 3-4 mths looking at this for my new 9x10 room

When you buy or research LEDs. Make sure to distinguish "Made in ..." and "Assembled in ..."
I still haven't decided on hps or led and have a few months before I'm in the new place so I have time to plan. I just looking for the most efficient and easy to use set up. Heat isn't a huge issue but if I can avoid it I will just as power consumption it's a non issue but if I can use less and get more out of the hydro I do use that would make me happy. It's going to be in a standar height bedroom so height is an issue or could be atleast. Is there any company's making the components and the finished product within the us or do they all import components?

Thank you for your input. Your room sounds about the size I'm going to have if not a little bit smaller.

Ok so for a amateur who's looking for the best results for $$ spent, knowing height is a possible issue, no landlord to worry about and I can modify the house however i like really what would you suggest for a 10x10 room or a 12X12 room, what would you suggest? Oh I believe the house has 100amp but not 100% sure.

I'd always pick the bigger room, gives you more space to work on the plants and not have to rub against them. You could put in 6 lights into the 12x12 room but you wont be able to move around. With 4 lights in there you'll only require max 20Amps for the ballasts if they are 1000W. If this is a fully sealed room then each bulbs would requite 3,400 BTU of cooling and if you are using a burner for co2 add another 400Btu for 3800 BTU per bulb. So 15200 BTU for all bulbs and burner. Now i this was a 100% sealed room you could use cold co2 and a 20LB bottle should last you 7-12 days and about $30 per refill if there's a hydro store near you. Then you only need 13600 BTU to cool so a 1.5 tonne AC would do nicely. Not sure how much power a 1.5 draws but probably 5+ amps.

Depending on budget you could also use light movers to your advantage. Lumigrow's are designed and built in the US. They're also used in agricultural green house setups. ( http://www.lumigrow.com/aboutus/case-studies/?utm_source=icontact&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Pilot Fall 2014 ) 5 year warranty and can be used with automated equipment. Adjustable spectrum, and BEEFY heavy ass heat syncs.

I got a Lumigrow 650 pro right before HC flipped the rules and switched to an LP system. I was hoping to get a Dr. to sign, but here we are, injunction and all. So for the time being it has been used as a starter light for my vegetable garden. They're also a company who doesn't BS about their wattages. Meaning saying something is a 600W when it actually draws like 350W from the wall. The 650 pro pulls a hair over 8 amps

I've been looking at their site. It bothers me that they can't publish prices. Product looks awesome and it's American made so no dealing with the Chinese is a huge plus. Any idea what the price is for one of their 650w or 350w lights? It's not that money is no object it is but I'm not interested in buying new equipment all the fucking time if I can avoid it by paying upfront.

I knew the old purple lumateks had big time issues, seen tons of threads on ic,420 and thc farmer. I must say thats alot of static for each ballast. Im curious about the badass ballast, they claim its short wave length and doesnt cause RF either could be the old video and new models.

How about ya open up a gavita de fixture and test it out? :D:D:D:D

They don't sell Bad Ass ballasts or any Bad Ass equipment any more that line went the way of the Dodo bird. I sold all my Gavitas and probably wont bring any more in, way to expensive now. I did bring in a demo of an Sun Light LEC 315W fixture but holy fuck its expensive. I'd have to sell it for $660. Not even sure if I should open it or bring it back lol.

Yeah those 315s look great. Saw a grow journal guy got 1.8gpw but your right the cost is crazy and having to do electrical work is almost garenteed, heard the lamp cord only fires 4ft. I had the Ace ballast and never gave me any issues with RF, I just hate it's a 300$ ballast with a internal fan.

Hmm the ace should not be $300 especially from a local shop.

YUP!!! Gotta love toronto hydroshops. If I can find a ballast with no RF and have dimmable options 1000/600/400 also DE convertible would be nice. Only ballast like this is the 1000w powerbox but I haven't seen a test on one.

I'm not saying I wouldn't like to make that much on a ballast as then I'd be fucking rich by now but that's just a rediculious price at least by prices in hydro stores located in Lower Mainland. For online sales I'd say I'd charge $230 for it and probably less in store as I won't have to deal with paying warranty shipping. Most stores locally would probably sell it for no more than that.
