Processed Meat Causes Cancer

There are plenty of high profile carcinogens that corporate America hides. I mean, for shitsakes they would still have us believe cigarettes are great for us.
As far as I'm concerned, corporate America has become it's very own "high profile carcinogen". o_O
Never let any of these people touch your meat !! :o

It's already been shown there's no correlation between dietary cholesterol and blood levels. That's what all the news was over the summer. So this isn't about cholesterol.

What it's about is the hard data showing processed meat isn't healthy. People eat it, and will eat it, and good for them.

This is nothing new. It's even been common knowledge for a very long time that the nitrates in red meat cause colon cancer. The chemicals and preservatives in the processed meats just widen the spectrum of types of cancer.

Not new at all, exactly. Like tobacco had test upon test before people finally got it.

I was starting to worry a bit, until I read these tidbits -

The report outlined that simply eating 50 grams of processed meat each day-- the equivalent of two slices of ham --can increase the risk of such cancer by 18%. However, the authors say the risks are relatively small to begin with.

An increase of 18% on top of an already small risk? I can live with that...

According to estimates cited by the WHO, about 34,000 cancer deaths per year worldwide can be attributed to diets that are high in processed meat. That's a small fraction of the 8.2 million deaths caused by cancer in 2012, according to the latest WHO data.

34k deaths out of 8.2 million? There are about 1.25 million deaths from auto accidents worldwide each year. If you limit your driving you can increase your meat intake and be way better off statistically ;)

Unprocessed red meat such as steak and lamb shanks is classified as "probably carcinogenic."

I like the conclusion of probably. I wonder why it is determined that there is a clear causal link between processed meat and cancer, but the link between cancer and unprocessed meat gets a probably?

SOME of us like to think there's more to who we are than our sex drive! But I respect your right to feel that way.

The air we breathe is bad for us.

I shop at whole foods and I'm sure the extra %20 cost will not add 1 single year to my life.

Everything in moderation.
Only fools shop a price-gouging ass whole foods. That store is the biggest (grocery) ripoff in America.
