I majored in sociology and it took a few years after to realize what a bunch of trash it was. I'm in no way against charity and helping people though, that's a totally separate issue. Taxing the rich shouldn't be an emotional issue, and it feels like you're trying to make it one.

Can't fund the budget with the black line, can't fund the budget with the red line, and these are programs that people have paid into their entire lives, so we can't eliminate them. So pragmatically speaking, what are you left with?

Not much at all. Cut the damn budget and therefore lay a bunch of losers off who don't do their jobs anyway, and get more production out of those who still work there. Cut the budget and trim the fat!

Of course a flat tax is fair and your points are valid. I like Cruz's plan a lot, everything but the exemption for those making less than $36,000. Nobody in America "deserves" a free ride and those in that lower tax bracket are also the ones quick to take advantage of any gov. freebie they can get their grubby little hands on.

Cruz: Under the Simple Flat Tax, the current seven rates of personal income tax will collapse into a single low rate of 10 percent. For a family of four, the first $36,000 will be tax-free. The Child Tax Credit will remain in place, and the Simple Flat Tax Plan expands and modernizes the Earned Income Tax Credit with greater anti-fraud and pro-marriage reforms. As a result, the Simple Flat Tax will ensure that low- and middle-income Americans have greater opportunities – not only through minimal taxes, but also through better, high-paying jobs that the Simple Flat Tax will generate. Under the plan, deductions for charitable contributions and mortgage interest payments are preserved.....

......For businesses, the corporate income tax will be eliminated. It will be replaced by a simple Business Flat Tax at a single 16 percent rate.

Excellent. That will induce businesses to bring their ops back home from abroad and reduce the cost of goods and services to the consumer.

Since we donate to charity and own property I like the latter part of his proposal. We could easily pay off our mortgage in cash but with a 4.50% APR rate and enjoying the mortgage interest deduction it would stupid to do so. We need the deduction.
