Pollen Chuckers RULE!!!

This morning as I wait for my cookie to kick in I just want to praise those of us with GOD complex. You know who you are, whether you picked up your first seed pack with the intention of making beans or 5 years down the line you got the knack to let a male jizz all over some girls and make some beans. keep it up!!

While I do detest those pollen chuckers who call themselves breeders and sell their F1 crosses as strains with no evidence that they've ever grown any out, there is still a place for pollen chucking!! My seed vault is full of crosses handed down from associates as well as my own crosses, many of which I'm more excited to pop than strains I spent $80 bucks on and who knows what good can be found in there.

With legalization looming in many states in the US (OHIO voters did right by not voting for the legal monopoly) and other countries wrestling with legalization. big corporate has already got a hold on the legal scene and it's only a matter of time before mite resistant strains are out there (fuck Monsanto) so now more than ever it's important to stock up on beans before the industry is muddled with more crap than good!!

OVERGROW THE WORLD!!

I don't understand what you are going for… 5x BX of which? Are you trying to make a exact copy of one of the parents or are you trying to make your own strain? If you were going for strain creation you would not want to cube (BX'n til you get like 97% like one of the parents) you would want to inbreed each generation til you get up to F5 or so, by carefully selection parents in each generation you can essentially create your own strain, or if you found a pheno in one of those generation that was crazy keeper than you would than start a backcross of that mom but most breeders like to leave variation in their strains either because they don't want to take the time to work it or simply because shits so dank you just can't lock down 1 pheno…

Super Silver Haze and Mango Haze are great examples of working different phenos within the same line, both came from the original Haze clones (3 different hazes) breeding project, Nevil liked one pheno, Shanti another so they worked both.

Can't wait for the regular beans to arrive so the pollen chucking can begin! Creating a stable strain will be fun, lots of time and effort, but still enjoyable.

Thumbs up for pollen chuckers!

I know,, I'm just trying to improve the flavor of the endless sky and lock it in indeffenat

I know,, I have books,,lol, I'm not trying to change much with the endless sky, just add some flavor and keep it locked in indeffinatly ,, And I'm going select acouple other interesting penos out of the f1s and play with these to create my own unique plants just for myself,,

I have an associate that ran around LA buying up dispensary clones of who knows what. He then crossed all his clones with a male he found in the first pack of seeds he ever popped. He marketed all the crosses as his new strains and now calls himself a breeder, and he has a "seed company".
Fucking sad.
I feel sorry for the growers he's duped.

I mean technically he is a breeder, he bred plants didn't he? Some are just better than others and take it more seriously...I would never label myself a "breeder" just someone who wants to create a strain that will live longer than me

I don't think he is a breeder. He is pollen chucker.
He doesn't test grow his strains, he hasn't worked any of his lines, they are just seeds he made off of others work. He doesn't even know how how many phenos are in his seeds. That's not breeding. Sorry.

Oh when he found out that breeders were supposed to work their crosses to stability. He just added the BX1 to all his strain descriptions, without actually back crossing a damn thing.

So by your definition how many times would someone need to cross/backcross and stabilize to be a breeder? It there a specific number ?

You seem to know. So you tell me.

But just because I can change the belts on my car doesn't make me mechanic, or does it?
I don't know I'm asking you what's the criteria to be a breeder opposed to a pollen chucker...let's say your associate found a great pheno from one of his crosses and back crossed it, is he a breeder then?

In my opinion.
Work your line.
Know what it is exactly that your male brings to a cross. Test your crosses. Find out what a grower can expect to find in your work. Stress test your cross.
Know your own genetics. Buying a clone labeled GSC, doesn't actually mean it is GSC.

Tossing a male into a flock of ladies and selling the seeds doesn't make a breeder.

See that's what I would call a good breeder, just throwing some pollen in a room of females would be a shitty breeder(seems to be a lot of them these days), IMO of course.. but I don't really care tbh breeder/pollen chucker if its good herb I'll take it
