Well doesnt have to a Mean Well driver, I just dont know what else is good quality.
I saw the 1750, and noticed it out of stock everywhere

Inventronics makes a 320 watt driver that will power 4 Vero 29s at 2.1 amps. They are in stock at Futureelectronics.com for $112. They are similar to the HLG series with aluminum cases rated for damp/wet locations. Not sure on the warranty but probably at least 5 years, you could inquire about that but I think they're probably quality (they should be for the price).
If you wanted dimming they do dim but only 0-10V so you can't just hook up a resistor or potentiometer. You can find 0-10V controllers at hardware stores, the kind used for dimming room lights.

Inventronics makes a driver for that will fit 4x @2.1 amps I believe....but it is usually in 220v

To compare a CBX3590 with a CXA3050 (or whatever) we can use the Cree PCT (Product Characterization Tool).

I think they have to layer on more phosphors to get better CRI which lowers the lumens.

I cant get that online calculator to do what I want it too.
It seems to leave out part of the range on one of the leds no matter what I choose .
It does look like the efficiency is closer with that calculator than it is with the charts posted here.
I think I have decided that I want either the 3070 or the 3590.
The question is which cri and color??
I am thinking the 80 cri is best from my reading, and that color is just a guess.
I am thinking 3000K if usesd for flower, and 3500K if I use it for both veg and flower.
Maybe this would be a good fan?

I also noticed that at FULL power the 3070 is slightly more efficient, run at half of full current they have a similar efficiency, and finally driver with low current the the 3590 get gradually more efficient than the 3070

I went to the local yard where they cut heatsinks. I ended up buying a piece 8"W x 28.75" L and 1.2" thick
I paid $42.95 for it, so a pretty good deal.

Nice score...HSusa also has a $5 cut fee for each order too, so definitely a good deal...
You can cut the heatsink with just about anything..just use carbide blades and Finer tooth counts...cutting this type of aluminum is pretty damn easy....once you get your cut started....you need to watch for grabbing if using a table or chop saw, but its a lot easier than a lot of hardwood cuttings actually.

It seems that there is some deviation, but the majority are using 3000K.
If thats the best choice Ill go with that.
I think I am going to build my light in stages as budget allows.
I was thinking 3 pieces like this one eventually with 3 CXB3070s each.
How does that sound?
Right now I would get driver(s) and 3 LEDs and build the first one.
Does anyone have better ideas?
I would prefer not to cut it, but if need be I could buy a carbide circular saw blade.
They also have several pieces of 8" x 8.25" there fior sale, maybe like 10 or so of them.

There are higher lumen CXB3070s that arent stocked (80 CRI 135LM/W) that arent readily available, and there are the 128 LM/W ones that are.I started out basically the same way...with 3 cobs and 1x HLG-120-1050 and I can add one more cob too...
Saving for a 2x4 tent, will running two HLG-120's and 8x COBS?

I haven't grown under COBs but I have grown under Lumigrow which is basically dual spectrum. The 660nm red really seems to make things finish fast, like a week faster than the published flowering time. So I went with the warmer 3000K and even bought a couple 2700K CXA3590 to throw in the mix.
Check digikey, they have better prices than Mouser on some COBs. My 2700K is $61.80 at Mouser and $47.60 at Digikey.
