Trimming, popcorn buds?

I've heard this around, to trim lower growth etc to stop focus of growing lower buds and focus more on the upper buds.

My question is, at what stage in flower is this best to do, and also how do you exactly remove the flowers? Just snip the flowering portion off? And what exactly constitutes a popcorn bud, is it easily identifiable to diagnose early on that your lower buds are going to be "popcorn" ? lol fuck thats funny.

you'll know them when you see them sorry I know that's not much help but along the lower branches you'll see a few spots with white hairs but not a branch or many leaves those will be your popcorn buds .... I leave mine alone I don't think they take enough away to make much difference to the top buds .. With that said I do remove several lower whole branched up to two weeks into flowering to get one main cola bud along with 4medium sized buds instead of having 6 or 8 branches with lots of popcorn bud and smaller tops , I don't top , I just cut whatever popcorn bud I have into a seperate jar to save for hash making or butter , ill smoke them if I get low on smoke bud too , it all adds up

I haven't topped or anything either. I'm around the end of 3rd week flowering. All my lower stems have reached near the top and are flowering. I couldn't tell you how many large marble sized flowers there are, but they are flowering right down to the base of my plant. The plant is very very bushy. The very base where they're flowering, they are kinda tiny and whispy I guess.. like they only have 6 pistols etc. I'm guessing these are the popcorn buds?

you got it those are them some will be smokeable by the time it's over with leave them on one plant or atleast your first harvest of this is so you can see wether they are worth it to you or not like I said they don't take enough away from top buds to be worth removing to me the more the better but to each it's own

I dont think he was suggesting removing the leaves, at least I hope he wasnt. I leave all the popcorn on and let it be. When I harvest, I'll take all the popcorn and put it in a seperate baggie and roll it up real tight and put it in a jar for a couple weeks. Then I take it out and its all forged together not unlike what dem dere mexicans do with their brickweed. Then I mix it in with the rest and all is well with the world.
