Totally welcome to free speech in my opinion, but be ethical, and appropriate. You only make your point look null by throwing in needless foul language, or by applying a hostile manner. Also, not everyone wants to see nudies (I personally don't have anything against any legal pornography, but we all know this isn't a porn site)

so why were the posts today removed one was even reposted in by a member after it was closed this is clearly one rule for one person one rule for another....if a post is closed it is closed why should anyone be allowed to post this enables the man to always have the last say no matter what...:evil:

I replied to this via PM, but I will post again. All of the stupid arguments make this place look like crap, threads that ultimately end up looking like crap SHOULD be deleted. Things always start off nice, but then it snowballs.

Like I said earlier, I think some of the best changes come from criticism, but keep it constructive, and don't have to assume anyone is here to pick you out of a lineup for not doing anything.

This is a community, we just need to respect each other equally.

i did not intend my thread to be an argument or look like crap to be honest my whole gripe is mine and everyone elses sig,s bein limited , i enjoyed comin to rollitup for the sigs it is reminisant of a coffee shop with stuff all over the walls,everyones personal flair coming to life through there posts, in nimbin, australia there is a little shop where everyone signs the wall and leaves alittle somethin the sigs kind of reminded me of that.....sorry to get down on u growtech bro guess im just cheezed and as usual nuthin you can do about it except moan get people behind u and hope for change.

I was going to avoid this line of discussion, because I think the limits applied have good reasoning behind them (no sigspam etc). I also believe that when you boil it down, we come here as guests of the people providing the bandwidth for us all to communicate. They provide this for us and it costs big money to run a forum like this. We should abide by their guidelines. But anyways...

I believe, though I am not in anyway associated with the admins, is that it got to a point in here where, as people have said, threads degenerated into childish name calling, rather than discussion or mindless fun (which is one reason why a lot of us hang here):eyesmoke:.
There is also the point that, in public the majority of people here wouldn't abuse someone or belittle them for a comment they made. It should be the same way in this community.

Common mutual respect for everyone. It is far easier to click away from a thread than to reply with three paragraphs of abuse.
Anyway, back to the bongsmilie

OK..I didn't read the whole thread as by the time I do its closed.. 3 x's already..pisses me off.. OK look.. this site as ALL site have rules..you check at the others.(I'm at 5).they are much more strict then here..1 infraction and bye bye.. I might not agree with all the rules, but its not my $$$ & time that put this up for others to enjoy..... Nobody can deny that as of late there has been some that just patrol and fight, insult and are generally rude or inconsiderate.. I've been a thorn in the side of management when I saw what I perceived as wrong, but I tried to maintain a sense of decorum... that has been missing in some..
Some might call me a kiss ass, but I'm not going to shoot myself in the foot by being an ass.. I enjoy this site as I do other sites..I respect their rules, as I try to here.. I will LOUDLY voice my opinion if I've got a problem, but at the end of the day I'm "their" guest and can be replaced at any time..

i've been closing these threads because everyone posting in them keeps hanging themselves. at least one person just got banned because all they want to do is break rules. this is a grow site. i'm here to help others grow trees. i can sit right here and give out infractions all day though. seems like that's what you all want, otherwise you'd be posting plant pics.

It would seem to me that the only advertiser I ever saw on here was Nirvana seeds. Now suddenly Nirvana can't clear customs, therefore they stopped shipping to the US. I would think the majority of RIU users are from the US. Since the one advertiser can't ship to the US they've stopped advertising. Now RIU is trying to draw other advertisers so they don't want us to all be acting like a bunch of uncooth morons.

If I were a potential advertiser I wouldn't pay for add space where people act like savages.

Plus the peeps with the cash are somehow more offended by swearing than us regular folks.

OK… I’ll throw in my 2 cents…. Purely for the purpose of adding to the discussion and not meant to be an insult to RIU.

This site added the rules and changed things pretty much overnight. Not so easy for everyone to jump on board and celebrate, especially since one of the best things about this place (before new rules) has been its relaxed attitude and the freedom to speak freely and just be ourselves…. which sometimes is abrasive, sometimes condescending but for the most part I think friendly and helpful.

Personally I think the forum MODS (FDD, Chiceh, Garden Knowm) did a great job of moderating the forum before all the rules. Things were handled in a relaxed manner on an individual basis. These 3 have good judgment and didn’t need a set of hard rules to know when to take action. I think this was a good method as it made us users feel free to be ourselves and it also made us view the mods as our peers… not here to ENFORCE the law… just to make sure when things got too out of hand they could pull the plug on a thread / user.

Now with these hard and fast rules and the (IMO) ridiculous “infractions” it feels more like a policed site as well as more of an us against them thing. I completely agree there should be no kiddie porn, spamming or blatant advertising of other sites here; again… the MODS already were monitoring that. I don’t agree with the rules about foul language or the rules about insulting other members. I don’t care if someone calls me a bitch… or worse… I’d rather know what someone is really thinking then have a sugar coated bland forum where we have to be so concerned with minding our Ps and Qs that we don’t get to just be ourselves.

Regarding advertisers…. Well my view on that is that the people that would advertise on this site are people in the growing community. I’m pretty sure they are companies run by people just like us. We are the very people who would be purchasing their merchandise…. I seriously doubt they care if we swear or throw a few insults around. It’s not like Pespi or Nike is going to advertise on a Marijuana forum… no matter how polite we are.

Lastly…. I have to agree with the others about GrowTech. Annoying and self-righteous is about how I’d sum him up. If we played the Sesame Street game of which one doesn’t belong: FDD, Chiceh, Garden Knowm, GrowTech…… I think it’s an easy call as to which one the users feel doesn’t fit in with the site administration. I guess he moderates chat…. so I know I will never go there as I could do without the holier than thou attitude. Am I a bitch for saying this? Probably…. But it’s how I feel and I’m nothing if not honest. If I get an infraction for speaking my mind… then so be it.
