why does the height specification matter ??

why does the height specification matter on a strain (NOT AUTO) if the light cycle controls the height of the plant ?
Main reason is the height of the grow room or box.
Due to recent trends towards stealth marijuana cultivation, compact growing cannabis has become desireable.

Springboarding from my previous comment, i beleive it is mainly genetics rather then quantity of light that is the main source of height determination.

Dont get me wrong, light quantity will dominate growth volume. However a sativa under a 250W CFL will usually grow taller faster then an indica under 250W MH imo

No wut Im trying to understand is if the height on the plant is controlled by veg light cycle compared to the flowering light cycle, then what does the height specification on a strain mean ?

Another words, If I had two seeds, same strain, and I let one veg for 3 months then switch to flower, and on the next plant, i let it veg for 6 months before switching to 12/12, the second plant is going to be much taller right ?

There is a maximum height given the strain though you could let it veg forever and it won't get taller just bushier. Pure sativas are generally taller and the inverse for indicas and which way a hybrid leans affects max height. Most people never veg their plants long enough to hit the max height so its never usually a issue.

Just depends on the size of the pot and the strain. If you veg for 6 months. You will want at the minimum a 100 gal pot. It can grow as tall as 30 feet or higher. The rate of growth is mostly dependent on genetics and health of the plant and the roots.

The longer you veg the larger the plant will be. It's pretty simple. Don't over think it.

30ft?! I don't think a pure indica could hit that maybe some crazy pure sativa moster

Look up mendo dope. In their outdoor garden. They have a 30 footer going right now. Most of their plants are 20-25 footers. All their strains are poly hybrids. An indica can grow just as big as a sativa. It just takes longer. Sativas veg pretty fast. But a sativa also takes almost twice as long to flower and stretches more in flower than an indica.

Then are you trying to say theres no limit to height theyd just go on like jacks beanstalk?

Maybe some get that high but i doubt every plant can but id be happpy if thats true bigger is better lol fields of 30ft plants would be heaven to me.

Ive always heard that indicas usually max out around 5ft and sativas 15ft but hey i wouldnt complain about a 30ft tree no not at all bro.
