How do you behave when you go to restaurants?

So I think I am the only server/bartender on RIU that post in TNT. I actually love it because I am like a legal drug dealer.. That is why they call dealing, serving.. That is what we do..

But tonight I had a table come in drunk, gave me shit from the start.. there was no mistakes at all on their order. They ate it all then when they were done they asked to speak to the manager.. I had already told my manager, "hey dude they are drunk and they are going to give us problems".. and my retarded manager was like ok.. Started taking meals off their tab, after they ate every last bit, but complained it wasn't any good. So I told my manager that I wasn't taking their check to him and he said just do it..

So walked back to the table and started taking the plates away, and I said "y'all must have really like the meal, because all the plates are clean".. the head queen bee was outraged!!! She said "I got money motherfucker" I just looked at her and smiled.. She caused a scene, and I said "look lady, you came in here ate all the food then you want to bitch when its time time to pay. You ate every last bite but it wasn't any good... Riiiight"

Now this is a big No No in our the industry.. The costumer is always right bullshit.

But unfortunately these kind of people do this once and they think can go anywhere and do this and keep coming back..We call them Janky..

So my question is how do you treat you server/bartenders? If they fuck up your order, if they don't refill your drink instantly, or even if they did your order perfect but you feel it's not your job to pay them that should be on the business not you..

Lots of people don't realize servers only make 2.13 a hour.. but realistically we make anywhere between 15 to 30 and sometimes even more.. usually I make about 20 on average.. but if you don't tip I don't make shit, and actually I have to tip out, so if you don't tip, I have to pay for waiting on you..

Is it a flawed system? One thing to realize is if we made a regular hourly wage the price of the food would go up 15% to make up for the restaurant labor cost..

I refuse to eat out again, I tipped at least 15% usually 20 to 30%. Every time I go out the food is no good, rather just fix it myself than have an underpaid disgruntled person that has obviously made poor life decisions and couldnt care less weather I live or die cook for me.

you cant serve alcohol to drunk people its against the law ..at least where i am from..do you not have to take a liquor serving course prior to being a bartender where you are?
you couldve told them to leave the establishment and rightfully so
"we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone"

as for the tipping comments, well canadian servers are paid min wage but heres what ive noticed, my husband tips generously
I tip based on 3 things
service/attendant
food
quality / cleanliness etc.

but as someone who worked in this industry to many years i can say it really depends WHERE you work, if you work at some shit bar wing restaurant you wont get tipped much
higher class restaurants you will be tipped alot, but theres a huge difference in their servers in those places

I was a two top tonight. Sushi. It was about a 5/10 quality. 50 bucks with no bevies. No sevice. Took ten minutes to get the tally on the plate count. Water was dry from the first five minutes. Four dollar tip because i wanted to cover the kitchen for having food on the conveyors. If your a manager the best option for fully eaten meals is gift certificates. Take the money and give out come back and bring your friends money.

Yes we have to take a alcohol server class here, but you unless the guest is stumbling or whatever.. it would have been the same scenario, they will cause a scene and bitch because you refused them service, and which in my case could have got me fired, it's kind of a double standard.. And I don't work at a lousy wing bar either but it's not fine dining either.. I have a lot of experience as a bartender, like 10 years.. But unfortunately my city has gone to shit and where I live use to be a nice suburban area which is slowly turning into the ghetto.. We are a corporate restaurant, but unfortunately we have turned into a coupon restaurant..

But I still make good money.. I usually on average make like 600 in a 30 hour week, only work 3 days a week, but I am also make about the same from selling pot, even more when I harvest...

hmm dont think you can be fired for following the law... if you did you could sue

i worked back of house for 13 years?..10-13 something like that, at a very high class restaurant, lucky position really , but i did have to get a license to do alcohol because i often filled in for servers.
the best thing you can do is just be happy its over, shitty lucky, asshole customers they come and go sometimes it really sucks
such is the life in the restaurant business or lots of customer service businesses

worked back of hse rest. damn near 4 yrs. The first year was hell on earth, doubles, madness, i won't go into details right now. then i quit drinking, the following near 3 yrs were cake, because i worked short shifts 'prepping' systematic bs. only 3 shifts/wk, start- late afternoons, out by 8 or 9. 1day/wknd opened 8am [that was a ways back..] :-)

I always tip at least five bucks, even if the bill is under ten. I use to deliver pizza, so I know how it is. I really hate eating out just because I know I will have to tip. I just recently started going to golden corral though and I don't feel bad about just leaving a two dollar tip, since I gotta actually take my lazy ass to the food line and scoop my own food.
I can't stand fucking dickheads as u described. But it makes me feel a little better knowing they've probably eaten lots of buggars and cum throughout their escapades.

I tip really well and base it on the server's attentiveness, attitude and hustle. Unless something is really wrong with the meal, I typically don't say anything. Having dated servers, bartenders and dancers in the past and listened to their stories of asshole customers, I am always mindful of how I act, even after a couple of drinks. Also, my mom taught me better on how to behave in public when I was a kid.

I tip 20% and a minmum of $5 on small orders but my drink needs to stay filled. When I go out to eat Ill usually have 2-3 glasses of pop. I am never an asshole to servers even if the order is wrong or made poorly. If its wrong I just tell them what it should be and they fix it. if its shitty food I just never come back again, simple as that.

I tip 20% sometimes more depending on service. I never complain bout food or send it back cuz that's when shit happens to your food. I used to cook and know a lot about food/beverage industry my girl actually is a manager at a steak house who served for years so we get it.. We ate out last weekend bill was $54 we left $70.. Server was great and food was as expected.. ( chillis)
