98% sure I read someone here say that Cree suggests iso alcohol to use on the COBs. Evaporates quickly and easily available. I used a cotton swab with alcohol to clean mine, no problems.
Thanks, so, problem solved

"Recommended Chemicals
In testing, Cree has found the following chemicals to be safe to use with XLamp CX family LEDs.
• Water
• Isopropyl alcohol (IPA)"
Bonjour
I can't find IPA in France so I use a bit of pharmacy alcool...
But you said water!!!!
You mean a wet towel!? And then a dry one!
Have a great day ★

Copied from angloinfo.com:
"You cant buy 99% in France but you can get 95 or 96% and you will find it in leclercs where they have the bottles of acetone and distilled water

I suppose I would use clean, soft cotton or Kimwipes with water. Kimwipes are "Delicate Task Wipers"--paper tissues used in labs.

I guess it is not allowed anymore for public use since a year...they use it to print off-set but I asked a guy and he said no...I have to buy some on Internet!
I just wipe them sometime with a clean wipe!
What's angloinfo???

Maybe there was some talk about it above, but I'd highly suggest 99% ISO for a task like this. It works great for cleaning sinks and other PC electronic components. Avoid the watered down 70% that they have to sell to the masses in stores. I did some searching and found some 91% at a local store, but its likely easier to order online...and have the 99%.

Bonjour
i would put a small fan on it for longevity!
this one looks better than the round one!
CU
Thanks, the round one is five time cheaper than the rectangular, and the seller said to me that it's designed for 18W. They will get plenty air flow, they will be munted in the top of the bloom cab celling, with 2 4" 160m3 extraction fans (from bloom cab, to the electric chamber), and one 6" 300m3 fan (from electric chamber to the outside of the house). Im consern about the hole in the middle of the heatsink, if that will create a hotspot on the COB.

Bonjour
I guess it is normally the emplacement of a fan.and the hole is to force air thru the hs...but it is more a vgacooler...
With the bigger if the fan fail no problem but with the small one I wouldn't bet on it...if you cool them very well you will keep them longer...yes you gonna run them low but with the price you paid for cob 10 or 20 $ more for cooling will bring you peace of mind (I know mine can't fry even at full power without fan at all...cxb@1400 release 22/24w of heat and I have very big hs but I add 120mm fan to be cold...not cool or warm...cold! to keep it a lifetime (10 year mini...lol!)

Yes I know, you're right on that, I think I will go for the big one.

Thanks!

Bonjour
Yes you did... but it is not a french shop...it is a site...so as i said there is no IPA available in French public stores!
I never said mon ami Watt efficace that I am looking for a place to buy some, cause you gave me a good address...I am just too lazy and I have a problem with my cb atm
So I have to buy some online (but till now it work well with 70ºalcool or 90ºalcool the one i use to light bbq)
Have a great day★

Ok, here I go again hehe :), I have decided to use a circular heatsink that is made here (after seeking a lot):

Total external diameter: 120,00 mm
Internal diameter: 54,20 mm
Height: 550mm
Fins: Total 16 = 12 of 8mm wide and 4 of 9,5 mm.

They're similar to the original Cree (order code LMH020-HS00-0000-0000002), rated for 40W dissipation.

What do you think @SupraSPL ?

Regards!
