My tap water is 800 to 900 ppm. Check ur tap
What about when I go to start my flowering nutrient cycle in a few weeks, putting big bloom and tiger bloom into my tap water usually brings the pH down into the 5's. Should I use pH up to bring it back up to 6.5-7 or just run it through after nutes with no pH adjustment? I will double check the bag to make sure it doesn't show any nutrient content, but I am almost positive the only ingredients were peat moss, perlite, lime, a wetting agent, and microhizzae. None of these contain nitrogen that I know of, so if it is salt buildup/over fert it would have to be from too much lime in the pro-mix or im using too much pH up/down. So maybe all of the things I read about Pro-Mix needing 5.5-5.8 pH is outdated and I should pH at 6.5-7 and treat it as a potting soil?

I have no reason to lie about it as I am still really new and have a ton to learn, and I know the only way I can get the proper help to improve is to be honest. I actually thought it could have been caused by not feeding. These are autoflowers and they are at a really awkward week 3 preflower stage where they have recently left seedling stage, and are in the middle of a very short veg/preflower stage. I have noticed in my other grows that they start to get really P and K hungry right around week 4-5, so that's why I was planning on feeding flower nutes with my next water (tomorrow or monday).

Yep, tap water. I have never tested the ppm/ec of the water here straight from tap. I should probably take that a little more serious because if it isn't caused by something that's in the pro-mix or the pH up/down solutions, then it would almost have to be hard water right? I will have to dig up some old pictures of my past grows where I ran into what seemed to be P and K deficiencies, but it could have been lockout instead of deficiency.

I was t really suggesting you were lying. It was a statement in relation to how rediculous all this sounds

Usually the target number for pH in soil is 6.3. don't use too much fert in soil because it will remain in the soil and you really don't need much because unlike hydro the dilution isn't very high. hydro tends to use a lot of water which dilutes the ferts, so a grower tends to use more. the problem is that the soil already has a pH, so it's hard to tell which pH to shoot for when using ferts like the liquids. err on the side of caution and just go easy on the ferts and see what happens.

Ahh I gotcha! I wasn't offended either way :) Definitely weird because it does look like the standard nitrogen toxicity.

Thanks for the info so far man. I will definitely take it easy on the nutes when I go to add them. How should I go about trying to get the pH of the soil up? Should I do some kind of flush with a little higher pH water, say 7 or so and see if that brings the soil/runoff pH up to 6.3-6.5?

are you sure the pH of the soil is low? the only thing I can suggest is go easy on this issue too.
I'm not sure. They say the lime in the pro-mix buffers it so it shouldn't be. I figured it could be because water going in was 6.2 and coming out 5.4. Doesn't seem right to me since I haven't put nutrients in. Could the low runoff just be too much buildup from the lime in the pro-mix and the pH solutions i've been using?

could be or maybe it has fert in it already and you're washing it out which shows up as low pH. if you could get the runoff tested you'd see what's in it for sure.

I grow with ProMix HP - soiless / passive hydroponic. It has no fertilizer in it. ZERO! Great for starting seeds, clones, whole grow, etc. Water straight tap, no ph'ing. Ph @ tap is 7, run off is 5.9-6 (which is perfect for ProMix). ProMix BX is the same as HP with fungicide added. ProMix HP-CC is the same as standard HP, but with coco chunks. ProMix HP Professional has very little nutrients. ProMix MP has slow release nutrients. There are many ProMix, which one are you using? Growing weed is not hard but people like to make it so.

I am using the Pro-Mix HP with Microhizzae. Looks like I should try to get the water/nutes going in to around 7 right so the runoff is closer to 6 right? If that's not how it works let me know! lol

Edit: I will add some updated pictures later but whatever this issue is it hasn't seem to have effected growth a whole lot, they are still shooting up! Alot of vertical growth over the last few days. The issue still looks like it's there and I think I am experiencing some P/K deficiency on top of whatever this is (could these just be the early signs of def's?) a few people said earlier in the thread that they did look underfed. I water tomorrow and will start some half strength Big Bloom and Tiger Bloom.

Try this STUPID SIMPLE PLAN for Autoflowers ....

I can use on most strains , some are heavier feeders but you will see when " SHE" needs something.

1 week(seedling) – Ph adjusted water

2 week(start of vegetative) – Ph adjusted water

3 week(vegetative) – Ph adjusted water

4 week(pre-flowering) – 1/2 veg nutes ( important ! ) Do this EVEN with Preflowers !

5 week(first flowers) – 1/4 bloom nutes

6 week(flowering) – 1/2 bloom nutes

7 week(flowering) – 1/2 bloom nutes

8 week(flowering) – Ph adjusted water

9 week(flowering & harvest) – Ph adjusted water till harvest

pro mix hp does have some ferts in it, and in pellet form (mircle grow green type) i would guess just a couple pellets per 3 to 5 gallon coming out of 105 liter compressed bags. i don't know how many but i see them when we break out bags on tarps in the woods :) i also see them when i make a soil mix for indoors when i spread it on tarps in the garage i still leave em in but i check all holes before i transplant to make sure none are in the way or have a chance of connecting with the first root base

that doesn't seem like a bad plan, but 1/2 in relation to what? 500 ppm? 1000 ppm? a number might help more. also feeding every week might be more than enough but maybe this plan really works.

Lol. Doesn't work that way. It varies greatly from strain, conductivity level in water, enviroment, nutrients, etc. My set up and strain just so happens to work out this way. EC measures .3 from tap ph @ 7. I mix in ferts bringing EC up to 1.2-1.3 which drops ph down to 6.4, and feed every watering. Run off is @ 5.9-6 ph. Good idea to check you EC level too.
