That's exactly the kind of thinking I don't want anywhere near me.
Think about it; if someone is too selfish to tip, what does that say about his character? About what he thinks of another's work? If he's only thinking of himself, he'll find a way to justify stealing soon enough. And I'm not doing time for killing someone for ripping me off, so this is the next best option.

What I think is that you guys in food service generally work your asses off and get to deal with some very nice people by and large but you also have to deal with some of the worst people and that just comes with the job. If you were in retail it would be much the same. Anywhere you have to work with the public you get a cross sampling of people from all walks. Its just something you need to get used to. If you don't like it you're free to find a different line of work.
Personally I will only ever make issue over food or service if there was a genuine problem like hair in my food or a unprofessional server. I tip 20 to 30% almost always and will only eat out if I can afford both the meal and the gratuity.
There are assholes anytime you deal with the public, its just the nature of the business so get a tougher skin and move on. Its not worth losing sleep over.

No it's about logic, and you clearly have none, just cause someone doesn't tip doesn't mean they steal, and just because someone steals doesn't mean you have to kill them, two different things

I agree the amount of the tip given is based on the performance of the service provided. But some people go out and have no intention in tipping. You can give the best service in the world but you're gonna get jipped. But you remember this people who constantly do it and their service will be less attentive. Can't neglect the tipping customers. I like to when I go in, sit down and lay ten ones down in view. As certain things aren't done, like me having to ask for a refill, or not prebusting, or other certain things, like Standing there within ten feet on their phones.. Updating their fb status what not. I'll deduct a dollar each time. Some have left with 1 dollar at the end but trust the next time, the service is way better.

how do u know if your friend left a tip, do u look at his bill and the cash he leaves, do you ask him, ffs least important part of dining with someone is the tip, conversation is key...and if its only about the f tip then the convo is not worth having imo, btw all waiters out there stop fuking interrupting people when theyre talking to ask about the food, cash grubbing is the worst imo

In this case the fuckin' guy was actually proud of the fact that he never tipped and thought waiters were lazy fucks.
That's why I cut him loose. I wasn't rude about it, I've just made a decision in my life where I'm done working with people who don't show a good character. It never works out.

Quite right. That waiter has taken care of my friends and I many times over the years and I tipped him generously for the great service he always provides.

I think all here would agree that if the server were busting their butts then tipping is no issue. It's when the server is excessively rude or totally inattentive that there is a problem. Service has to be extremely shitty for me not to tip. I just wish it were included in the price. It would be so much easier.
