help save my lowyders!!

hey everyone,

i have posted previously about these lowryder 2s i am having trouble with
and the problem is getting worse, ill keep it nice and short:

-they are:
-always given distilled water
-about 3.5 weeks from seed (just spotted first male yesterday (pictured))
-in a seedling soil mix containing no nutrients whatsoever
-under 75W of cfl mix of 5000k and 2700k (i know this is not enough light to
flower but i am hestitating putting them under my 400W HPS untill they look better)
-temps are hovering around 70-75 and humidity 30-40% (ok)
-have had one premature 1/4 strength nute feed at 2 weeks when they started
looking like this (i know, me=noob), and since then have had 3 large flushes which
took place 3 days apart from eachother, (last one was yesterday so the soil might look too wet)

PLEASE HELP DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM
all traces of that 1/4 feed should be long gone now and my babies are
looking shittier everyday...stunted
are they deficient?
still suffering from the nutes?

please help me i have spent $$$ on a HPS setup for the girls and i really
want them to make it

i'm not exactly sure what the problem is, but really, if i was you I would just toss those guys out and start from scratch. 3.5 weeks and that small? stunted for sure which probably will mean more problems in the future. go grab a couple t5 lights for 60 bucks or so, and a mh conversion bulb to use in your hps setup. it will be worth it. good luck.

thanks for the quick replys,

ganjababy1, i have a pic of the nutes i used, they are for hydro but says it can be
used for soil grown plants, i only did it at less than 1/4 strength...and wont probably
wont use them again, the soil was a seedling mix which contained no nutes

andrewj, scrapping is not an option right now, seeds cost me a good 100 bucks to get
to australia and i dont want to wait etc etc

im not overly worried about them being too stunted though, as i am purely growing
them for a seeds for my upcoming outdoor season, but none the less some bud would
be expected. i am also going to have some other bagseed plants vegging under the
18/6 HPS which i will flower when the LR2s are done

anyone else have an input?

They are 3.5 weeks!? Best advice, start over. Lowryders have a set lifespan and if they are that old they are almost halfway though their lifespan. Even if they do recover you will not be getting much yield. I think you got way ahead of yourself adding nutes to those little seedlings. Start over and put them under the 400 watt light from the start. Don't start feeding until they have grown some adult leaves. Lowryders don't require much in the way of ferts either.

I've seen this before....You fertilized your seedlings. You know why seedling mix has no nutes in it? They didn't start making soil yesterday.......

Biggest nube mistake is to be too worried about your little plants. Pretend it's a tomato plant or any other plant. When it's bigger (2-3-4 internodes) then you can fertilize. Always start slow...and work up to what your plants like best.

All this hype you read on these message boards makes nubies confused and think that it's rocket science.

I have done them myself..I bought 15 beans from LowLife seeds...a mix of their autoflowering genetics...they are fucking interesting to say the least..

I tried to breed them into seed indoor and was successful...300+ seeds

Germinated them with a 25% germination rate ...

and they grew a BUNCH OF SHIT!!!!GARBAGE GENETICS!!!!

All Munchies no BUZZ!!!

Get any quick flowering indica strain and start flowering early and you would be much happier!!

Any experienced grower would say the same...

spend your money on a stable genetic that you can enjoy for years to come indoors and outdoors...

You can save those plants but it will take time to recover---Your problem is that you have wayyyyyyyyy overwatered them---This is what you need to do in this order-------1. Let the soil dry out(the top one inch should be dry before you water again. 2. You need to get some oxygen in to soil----You need to get some h202 35%---at the rate of 1.7ml/L add it to your water and stir----wait 20 mins and ph to 6.3 then lightly water till a little comes out the bottom---I would use a spray bottle. After one week I would use 1/4 strength organic powerthrive w/b1 every third watering for another week--your plants will take three weeks to recover and get back to regular growth...good luck.

i know i know im a noob, but i gave them that one hit of nutes because they were
lookin like what they do now but in the early stages, BEFORE i gave them anything,
but im just going to have to move on from that....

as i said before, i am going to continue with these plants as i dont really want to pay another $100 and wait 3 weeks. not an option at this stage

ive never grown indoor before and my current setup is less than ideal,
the plan was to grow these LR2s for seeds so i could have a continual harvest
over summer and get stoned while i wait for my sativa bagseed to grow itself
out naturally outside

DR. von - thanks alot for the advice, i will definetly do what you said, where abouts do i buy h202 from btw?

also, should i transplant them into bigger pots now, as i am pretty sure they have grown out of their little cups, or should i wait till they get better
so the transplant shock dosent finish the job i started

new organic nutrient free soil with 30-40% perlite?

Hi mate, I'm in OZ too and have grown a few Lowryder crops and can only suggest a couple of things.
Seed raising mix here is a problem, not sure why but when I use it for MJ seeds they just wont grow and look like yours.
Also lowryders dont like too many nutes, so go easy on them.
If I were you I'd get some Searles Premium potting mix and carefully transplant them.
Use some Superthrive and Nytrozyme, works wonders and readily available on ebay.

shouldnt be giving any nutes for 3 - 4 weeks.

my verdict, nute burn. dont give them anything except water for couple weeks.

spiked1 - that is a little reassuring to hear about ur experiences with the seed raising mix
in aus, because i swear they started looking like this before i gave em that little hit of
nutes...i think thats why i did it in the first place (stupid nonetheless i agree)
i think it might well be the soil, it has lots of those little wood chunks and bark in it,
i think they might be soaking up and holding water and probably the nutes i gave them
aswell. so overwatering may be the problem....

im goin to transplant tomorow morn first thing, and i will try and find that soil u suggested
and mix it with perlite, where abouts did u get it from?

i will also hunt down that nitrozyme aswell and get it on the way, i already have some
superthrive i can use

i will definetly be waiting a while untill i give them NPK nutes though....

stop watering them!!!! they are drowning. How can you spot your first male already???????????? these guys are babies. let the soil dry out and only water them when the soil is completely dry. no nutes for the first 4-8 weeks the soil has plenty in it. re-pot them immediately to stop any root rot that may have taken place. water again in three days. but not too much. You'll not be able to tell the sex of your plants till about 3weeks in to budding. dont kill any more.

grow lots of weed. dank weed, kind week, stankweed, swagweed. weed from Boulder, stick it in the ground-cuz every seed planted is anutha fuckin soldier. Red <I>

im not sure if u have been reading but these are lowryder 2's and are over 3 weeks old,
males are supposed to show on day 17 normally but mine are a little late, take a look
at the first pic in the 2nd row, you can see the purpleish balls on top

they autoflower and in an ideal grow they are meant to take only 60ish days from seed

Like redirasta and the good Dr. said it looks like your bigger concern is over-watering. Let the soil dry out before you water them. If you are transplanting to fresh soil, keep it a little dryer to begin with and then start watering them (only when the soil is dry!).

Also, with these being lowryders 3+ weeks in, you are pretty hosed on this grow. YOur best bet would be to try to pollinate the females with the males if you manage to get any buds at all (should get a few hairs here and there) and that way you could at least replenish the seeds and start over again with more knowledge and hopefully patience.

2 liters should be more than enough, you could probably go with 16oz cups (or equiv.). Maybe that is me being pessimistic though....don't listen to me. hahaha

update.

upon closer inspection i have 5 girls and 5 boys

all have been transplanted into 1.4L pots with organic soil and perlite at a 65/35 mix

they are now under 2 x 48W warm white cfls and 1 x 65W daylight cfl

gave them a little water after the transplant, but nothing major

temps are now around 25C ad humidity is up around 40-45%

hope they start to pick up............

If they are already budding you are pretty much screwed and whatever you get off those tiny budding plants will probably be terrible pot. Sorry to say bro but you need to start over. I have grown a lot of lowryders and they have a very short lifespan, your plants are near the end
