I don't do much pre seasoning. I just sprinkle a little "Pappy's" seasonings on the inside & leave the sauce for the table....

I think the ground was wet last year & we tried to cook other stuff along with the pig inside the roaster & that slowed everything down. This year I won't try to cook anything else in the roaster & if the ground is wet I may buy a sack of sand to put down......it's getting closer

Up here in oroville where I'm at, there's two. Gold country and feather falls feather falls( has a better buffet) only hour north from bbq. But thunder valley prolli closer......

That's the one, Thunder Valley Casino in Lincoln Ca. Very nice rooms too! It's a bit closer than the Rocklin/Roseville hotels.

The weather forecast is a chance of rain, so we should plan accordingly. I'll ask PC to bring a carport & I will bring one & I'll pick up a couple of big tarps we can stretch between to create a big dry space....

I prefer Hickory for pork, 4 large bags will cook a pig in 5-6hrs.....

I will pick up one of these 40'x60' tarps at Home Depot. Stretch it between some trees & we should be able to create a dry space roughly the size of one of our greenhouses.....that should be enough space along with the carports....

You'll have to get that rope WAY UP HIGH with a 40' x 60' tarp, but it will work.

I have a 18' extension ladder....(that I'm not allowed to use). I'll ask PC to bring it down from the farm on Friday...

So I think we will plan on locating up on top of the hill near the rest rooms. There is a large graveled flat spot up there surrounded by big oak trees with plenty of parking. The only thing is there aren't any picnic tables up there, we need to bring our own. So if anybody has a portable table they could bring...Oh, also bring a chair..
