i let my nute strength drop alot and had no problems in rdwc. it'd go from 1.2 to 0.8 almost every week. i always felt safer letting my EC drop because if it went up, my first thought was that i had nute lockout.

Yeah I usually use low strength in flower as my VPD in flower is high with high heat and low humidity so it causes a lot of transpiration and if I dont start low it will rise quickly on me due to the plant losing lots of water thru the leaves to the point of burning.

The pieface in question did this to me when I brought it into flower. Was getting drops from 1.4EC in veg to it rising from 1.2 to 1.4EC in flower overnight.

has the pieface started to stretch yet? or is it in that period where it's wondering "what's up with just this 12 hours of light"?

if it's stretching, i would think your ec would definitely be dropping.

I brought it to flower a week or less ago.

I would say its still in the wtf is up phase.

Reason im pissed is I got shit growing in my stock tank despite keeping it in the dark and in a cool area.

And I dont know what to do with it all. I dont think its good for the environment to dump it down the drain.

Imma just use it. Fuck it. I heard from a user at thcfarmer that he uses sodium.benzoate to keep his bacterial colonies at bay.

Or just mix batches at a time and deal with the less than stellar results tty talked about getting mixing 200g at a time.

i just had the same problem in my res. i do drain to waste so my pH is always dead nuts on. last week it started dropping into the high 4's. wtf? so i emptied it and used 3 bottles of h2o2 on it and some really hot water. vacuumed it out and refilled and all is back to normal.

and i use the max dose of Zone too.
i'm thinking about dropping an aquarium uv light in there and see what happens.

I hear that guy came up with a few things.

I'm not worried about nutrient lockout anywhere near the strengths we use for plants.

I wish it were my res. Its that 11gallon nutrient stock I just made. Thats like losing 1100 gallons of reservoir.

I feel like im killing the environment if I drain it. But I guess thats what they have water treatment plants for, right? Lol.

Sodium Benzoate the more im reading is something a lot of commercial hydroponic nutrient manufacturers use to keep their shit fresh.

Only works on stocks 100:1 or higher concentrated. 100-300mg/L of sodium benzoate.

I don't think it fixes problems. And from what Im reading these bacteria feed on the chelating agents and could possibly be producing harmful byproducts and at the very least unsuspending iron and zinc. So maybe I shouldn't keep using it.

And that its the DTPA and EDTA chelates that cause this.

save it. do you have a lawn? buy one of those things that mixes nutes with the hose water and you'll have the best looking lawn in town. i noticed my leech field looks very healthy compared to the rest of the yard.

and those last 2 sentences in your post make absolutely no sense to me. above my pay grade. no comprende?

They have to be onto something with the sodium benzoate. Why have I never encountered this bacteria in my bottled nutes? The first time I mix my own and I get bacteria growth?

I don't have the most clean room cleaning standards, but I certainly didn't treat this nutrient stock container any worse than all the other bottled manufactured nutrients. In fact I kept this out of light and my bottled nutes used to sit in the grow room. So if anything I babied these hand made nutes more.

So i decided imma use the nutes until i experience issues.

If I run into issues take a 4x8 board and tack some 2x3s I have left over from the wall demo put a black tarp over it and pour a gallon at a time out over it thats a layer of water a twentieth of an inch thick which would heat up fast. If i can get the water to 90F on an average summer day of 76F day at 50%RH I can get .0692 lbs per hour per sq. ft. evap.

Even hotter water in relation to ambient temperature and the rates get even higher. 76-78F water has .0028lb/hr/sq. ft. per degree F increase.

Compared to 102-104F water has .0067lb/hr/sq ft per degree F increase.

So 90F seems reasonable for water sitting under the sun with black around and under it and at such a small thickness. That is .0692lb/hr/sq. ft. times 32 sq. ft. is 2.2144lb an hour at 8.34lb per gal plus the .44lb of salts thats 8.78lb per gallon.

It will take 4 hours to evap a gallon of water spread out over 32 sq. ft. at 90F water temp and 76F ambient at 50% RH.

Good to know. I think this would be the most sensible disposal method.

I had some crappy local beer my cousin brought over. But he did bring pizza as well. Dope pizza.

And I chopped the last of the abominations so now my grow looks good again, lol.

Those pipedreams are struggling. I still think 350ppm is too much. One rose to 370ppm. One is beasting it and showing deficiencies now so I should up her dosage. Im about to say fuck these plants and start new seeds of some other stock from dbdick.

Stinkbomb clones are half the size, and eating more and looking way healthier.

Getting an odd pH drop on the Blue OG. Roots look healthy. I think it was saying it wanted a fresh res.
