please i encourage you to really listen to what im saying
And I encourage you to really read what I wrote in my initial post on the subject!
I'm all for helping people escape war torn countries....
But I question where all the free money is supposed to come from that never existed in the past when it comes to helping Canadians.
I didn't specify the homeless I said families that are borderline homeless. Families. Not individuals downtown saving quarters n dimes to buy a bottle.
You have been on the reserves have u not? You know that there's many that don't even have drinking water. Or know where their daughters are.
I don't want to argue and fight about the subject especially considering that my opinion is called an excuse.

Ya..horrible people, they just pay the taxes that funds all this shit.
That's just it...some folks would give away the farm. That type of dreamer should not be in charge. Or we'd all have nowhere to live. Sometimes a person needs to protect what they have. And that's perfectly ok. And not needed defending to anyone.
Unless you buy LP weed..buy elsewhere and help.

I for one don't want a bunch of refugees that ran away from their own problems then just create the same problems here. Look at what is happing in Europe. It also pisses me off that he wants to attack our right to defend ourselfs. Why is it liberals all ways think going after legal users will stop the illegal. Weed, guns or anything the norm dems unwanted by them.

All I can say is that I'm sadly disappointed with some of the opinions here. :(

Many, and I mean many of the values that we Canadians hold near and dear to our hearts and heritage are solely based on immigrants (including refugees) who sought a new life in Canada. My mom was a landed immigrant after WWII, so technically I wouldn't be alive if not for Canada opening her arms to those seeking a safe life for themselves and their families.

For those that will cry that these refugees could be terrorists (their Muslims after all)..I call BS. These 25K people in desperate need will be vetted more than any other immigrants who claimed refugee status in Canadian history.

These families have been handpicked at a forward refugee camp in Jordan, and you can be damn sure they have been fully vetted going back multiple generations.

Just imagine when the first Europeans came to these shores and the natives said..."sorry, we're full"!

You're all entitled to your opinions, but again it saddens me to see folks who can prolly trace their own ancestry back to an immigrant or refugee from a war torn country....want to slam the same door shut that let their own ancestors in.

I'm not a religious guy per se, but ponder this...
in this season of what is supposed to be of love, giving thanks for our families, giving thoughtlessly to those less fortunate than ourselves....just remember what a kind inn-keeper did over 2000 years ago to aid a refugee family fleeing persecution.

Syed Farook was living the American Dream. His government job paid him over $70,000 a year including full benefits. He was allowed to leave work in the middle of the day to pray. He was allowed a month of earlier this year with pay to visit Saudi Arabia. He and his wife were given a baby shower earlier this year by his co-workers the same coworkers he would later kill at a Christmas party in San Bernardino. Even more would have died if his pipe bomb would have gone off. If this isn't radical Islamic terrorism what is it? Point being there is a culture clash that no one is talking about. If you believe in sharia law you don't belong here. We don't need you. They need us. that's why they're fleeing the shithole country there from in the first place.

We each have our own views on the refugee situation, but the fact is they are coming, like it or not, and we need to welcome everyone once they get here, imo. My feelings are we, as Canadians have always helped...it's part of what makes us Canadian. If you're worried about money, how many refugees can we help with the money saved from dropping ineffective bombs? Harper gave more to Israel to fund the genocide of Palestinians than what this refugee program will cost. If I was trying to get my kids out from underneath the falling bombs I sure as fuck hope someone would help my family. There are billions of dollars spent on frivolous bullshit by our governments, I have no issue diverting some of that to save human beings. I could do without Islam, but then I would be just as happy without christianity, judism and every other religion too. But that's just me. I won't call anyone out for having different views, you are entitled, but those are mine

I totally get what you're saying, it's going to cost a great deal of money to bring these people here and get them set up into their new lives...and a lot of Canadians could use the exact same help everyday. But, over the last decade the Cons have reduced transfer payments to the provinces, by 200+%.

Sadly as a result of lack of federal fund, provincial Social Services (especially mental health workers) are usually one the 1st casualties when cuts are made. This lack of funds hurts many peeps in need.

I was very glad to hear the Throne Speech mention working to repair decades of mistreatment of the aboriginal people by the Canadian Gov, including creating a task force looking into all these missing women...it's far past due.

As far as the money, dude in the big scope of things when JT is gonna run $10B+/year in deficits for the next 3 years...what's a few extra $M to help folks who are literally fleeing for their lives. I'm sure most of them would accept living on the street, begging for food in Canada, rather than staying where they are.

Yes, we have many Canadians who are already in need of help. Perhaps this refugee thing will help bring the issues of current Canadian's in need of aid to the forefront of the media? Maybe that will convince this new government to step up to the plate and help them as well?

America and its guns, prime breeding grounds for radical Islam...agree with you. I'm surprised there haven't been more attacks.

You have to remember these 25K people are running away from sharia law (pretty harsh interpretation of Islam for sure, but rarely deadly to Muslims) that their leader (Assad) doesn't have to follow AND radical jihadists (deadly to all Muslims, and ANY other faith). These people are literally running for their lives from, from whacked out junkies, with heavy automatic weapons who have corrupted the meaning of their faith.

Canada has a population of roughly 36M, I think we can squeeze in 25k totally safe refugees.

I'm not saying we shouldn't help them. I'm saying those who we do help should really try and assimilate to the Canadian way of life. No room for people wanting sharia law. Leave that shit out and come on in.

Agreed, lotsa cultures sacrifice some of that culture...including sharia to live in Canada. If they become Canadian, they must understand beforehand...women have rights, we have police/ courts to settle disputes (not tribunal councils), divorce does not disgrace ones family, we do not allow stoning, or gang rapes.

Let them know how our Candian democracy works, if they don't agree...then by all means they should stay where they are.
