When does claimed flower time start

Curios as searching has given me conflicting answers but when they say on the flower time 7-8 weeks when does that clock start? Is it from day 1 of putting them in flower? Or is it after the stretch and the pistils and buds start showing? One reason I ask is I have a Hindu Kush and all the info says flower time 47 days so I kinda wanna be on the ball to catch it at perfect ripeness.

True hotrodharley i have never had a plant finish when the breeder say they would. usually add on 2 to 3 weeks if your lucky.

I personally say start counting from flip just to be consistent. Flowering times are going to be general anyway because each grow will be different, different temps, rh, water, medium, etc. If you personally grow the same strain multiple times then you could dial in the flowering times for your particular grow but otherwise it's all generalizations. Ones I just harvested said 7 weeks on websites but mine took 10.

Breeders run their plants in high intensity conditions; 60+W/ft² of HID lighting, temps in the low 80s, CO² supplementation, higher RH and loads of nutes. All these factors will push plants to finish sooner than those grown under less light and cooler temperatures. Breeders give ripeness numbers based on the intense growing conditions and let the grower understand that it's a best case scenario.

It is definitely not a perfect system, but no breeder can be expected to account for all the different conditions his strain will encounter.

I've noticed when I start counting at first site of pistils that's when they fall into the breeders flowering window , if I do it from flip it's usually a lil longer then the breeders claim .

The difference between the growing environment I described above and your preferred growing style is likely responsible for the timing difference.

so if i have a baby 1 week old plant right now on dec/6/2015 as we speak. when can I expect for that plant to bear fruit if I use nothing but the power of the sun. In south texas.

I don't doubt it , I remember back when Subcool was explaining how he got his m2 yields...1000 watts per m2 ...vegged for 10 weeks so on an so on .

I really think it depends on where you get them.Anything i've grown from DNA was right on the money from the day you switch 12/12.Most Seeds I've gotten from Amsterdam seem to go from when first flowers pop.
