What to do with runoff?

I know that when flushing to use water equal to 2-3x the size of the pot. But when growing indoors what do you all do with the runoff? Obviously the tray can't hold that much runoff. Do you take plants outside, put them in a sink, siphon water out of the tray, put the pot on top of a bucket to catch the runoff, or what? How do you manage all that extra water when growing in soil? It seems particularly difficult to manage when growing a smaller space such as an attic.

thx!

I generally try to flush every couple of tank changes.. First i empty the tank ( a length of hose long enough to hit the nearest drain, attach to pump and let 'er rip)
I siphon right out of a 2.5 gal jug of PH'ed water to the medium and "hose" it out.

2-3 of these containers full, and flushing is complete. ( 6 plants in flower, 4 in mother box). Drain the tank of the flush water, then clean evrything thats in the tank. Pumps, filters, thermometers, etc -It all collects slime.
Mix up a new batch of soup, and we are good to go.

just put the plant in your bathtub, but any of your options will work. how often are you flushing? you should only need one or two flushes per grow in soil, unless you run into trouble with ph, nutrients or salt buildup.

Yeah, when growing in an attic putting a plant in the tub isn't an option... though it's good to know what others do. I do only need to flush a few times each round but I recently burned my girl a bit so I needed to do a mini-flush.

Thanks for the info y'all!

For real, I was just messin before.
What u need to do is run a drain system from the attic.
U can set something up with a regular garden hose, and a rubbermaid tub. Syphoning may be a good optionsince u are in the attic . Most attic entryways are in a hallway with a bathroom nearby. Run the hose into the tub or sink, with the other end up in the attic. With the proper fittings u can even use this hose to water everything.
Do your watering and flushing over a rubbermaid tub, then stick the end of the hose in the rubbermaid filled with flushed and drained water.
Go downstairs and syphon that tub out...

Why dont you just buy a larger tray that will hold all the water needed for flushing and take it out of ure attic and pour it down ure drain

I have no water upstairs, so opt to carry mine down to the kitchen sink. Last grow, I had 16 and damn, THAT was a lot of runnin' back and forth for an old man.
Now, with a well-endowed stash, I find having to move them every few days a great way to prevent insect infestations. The plants don't seem to mind.

Your house has vents for the plumbing that go through the attic and vent out of the roof above every item in the house that has a water feed. It's easy as can be to cut one and tap a T fitting in to have a drain just about anywhere you want it if your plumbing is plastic. Takes like two minutes and would be less than $10 in parts. It can be done with iron pipe too, just not nearly as easily. If you don't already have a hose running up there at least get an electric pump and hose for that to move your water around. There's no need to wear yourself out moving water up and down from an attic.

Then u can just get a nozzle that hooks up to ur sink and to a hose and run that bitch up in the attic to water with . then u will be able to water and drain with complete ease...

I'm only growing 4 plants myself, it's easy to take them all to the tub and just spray them down with the hand-held shower attachment. It's never been a big problem for me...I started them in a shower that's in my basement and just had to turn the shower on for a while when flushing. Now they're upstairs and only across the hall from a bathroom. If it was a problem to carry them back and forth, then I have a wet-dry vac to change my bubbleponic nutes that would work well during flushing.
