Hey everyone, I just got a small 2x2x4 tent and I am wondering how you would go about setting up a carbon filter in the tent so it dont take up much room. I have a 400W light in a cool tube hood reflector like this.

http://www.amazon.com/SPL-Horticulture-System-Plants-Reflector/dp/B00YHYYARE/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1449710760&sr=8-15&keywords=Cool+tube

Hooking the filter up near the top wont work because the light will take up all the space.

Thank you
Isn't it too big? 25x 26"...I have never seen a 24" tent...maybe 22" :)

Put it somewhere though....., hot air rises right?
Why do you want that big ass cool tube in a little tent, makes no sense?

I actually got it for free what would you recommend for the tent?

I think the cool tube is great idea, but that reflector, not so much.....

For a bigger space, it may have a much better function........but, does the cool tube itself have a reflector? That would be a downside if it didn't...

Maybe just a smaller reflector would help immensely...400w HPS in a 2x2 doesn't need much reflectance, the sides of the tent should really help all that out....even without a reflector the HPS would destroy in a 2x2, thats around 120-150 PAR watts/sq. ft...plants will take that light regardless of how it is delivered....

My only concern with a fixture that big is that is is actually blocking heat escape and will help add to your overall ambient temps...:peace:

Would something like this be a more feasible option then?

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00BMVPXL2/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1449759656&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=Cool+tube&dpPl=1&dpID=41nC3ob3FAL&ref=plSrch&th=0

The buddy hooked me up with a 6" in line fan, 400w MH ballast, 400w HPS Ballast and a digital dimmable 400w/250w ballast.

I been thinking of using the 250w ballast to help with heat but the 6" fan should have zero problems with the 400w

I like that one much better for a 2x2....save power where you can...No reason to have to use a 6" fan in a 2x2 for 400w's...Even for quantity...

In a parallel universe I would suggest a test of a 250w in the same space with 74F constant ambient and see if you can match the 400w's results, gram for gram. :peace:

The Inline fan will be on a speed controller so it wont be blowing full blast. Im almost thinking of going with some marshydro lights instead. Something like this for the tent http://www.ebay.com/itm/MarsHydro-600-LED-Grow-Light-Panel-Full-Spectrum-272-5-True-Watt-Hydroponic-/290950075690?hash=item43bdf9d52a

NO! stay far far away from those things....What about starting with a just a 250 watt HPS or a 315 CDM lamp too?

The mars fixtures are complete junk....Take this from someone growing with all kinds of different types of LED's, all LED, over the last 2 years....

They are inefficienct and even a 250w HPS will deliver more light from the plug and to the plants than the Mars, watt for watt.

There are only a few LED companies that are worth a shit and cost is still high, unless you build it your self [Guilty!]...

The Mar's have the efficiency of a CFL bulb right, but they are about 10x the cost...aka Price Fixing, chinese crap style....

Yea I understand what your saying. I think im gonna do some more research into building my own LED light but for now go for a 250w HPS in a cool tube. The plan will be pushing air threw the tube and using passive intake for air flow.

The 250w will save you a TON of hassle from the LESS heat.

And if your able to get about 35% efficiency that is about 21 PAR watts into each square foot of the canopy!
[.35 x 250/4]

I usually aim for 15 and I am regularly pushing 1 gram/ watt......

DIY building is pretty straight forward...Once you get the names down of all the options...

You literally need 3 base items.

Driver
LeD diode [Most popular these days are Bridgelux Vero 29's, Cree CXB3070 or CXB3590] 3000, 3500k and 4K are all popular....
Heatink

I cover some of the aspects of building and wiring diagrams etc in my blog and my threads in Micro section...

Definitely lots of GOOD shit to read in LED thread....This one is maybe the best on the web for forums, bar none. There is where it goes down :peace:

Thanks for all the help! Gonna post over in the LED section to see if someone can get me pointed in the right direction with building my own!
