Mines easier and simpler

add half a cup of chopped bud to a cup/ 2 cups? of butter

insert to a microwave on high for 5 minutes

extract ..strain ..then

pour to your fridges ice cubes tray allow to cool

and store in your freezer until needed

the actual dosage per person is figured out one its needed for cooking

Vostok - Do you decarb your bud before microwaving it? Or do you think it's getting adequately decarbed during the 5 min microwave blast? Seems like you might not be getting all the THC converted unless you have more time on the proper temp for decarb.

Decarboxylation -This occurs after buds are harvested and during the curing process. The
THC loses a CO2 molecule, which then makes the THC psychoactive. This process is why
drying and curing buds after harvest is crucial to the high that the bud produces.

This decarb process would be applicable in a joint even a bong but as for eating ....Na!!
THC on the plants I grow ..don't need to loose a molecule to make me happy
the advantage of using weed in cooking is just that,
an opportunity to using up weed thats fresh, rotten, even covered in mold
or downright hemp, the deal is to wash off/ detach the thc from the weed
and consume it in cooking if not strong enough
....add more ..lol

good luck

From the stonerscookbook.com and virtually every other site I've read -

"Raw cannabis contains a lot of THCA which is not psychoactive (and what's the fun in that?). When you smoke weed, the THCA molecule loses its carboxylic group (COOH) in the form of water vapor and carbon dioxide and becomes THC. Long story short, THCA becomes THC and your cannabis becomes psychoactive. This process is calleddecarboxylation or decarbing.

When you smoke or vaporize marijuana, the cannabis is decarbed by the heat. If you ingest cannabis and want the full psychoactive effect, you need to first decarb your cannabis before you cook with it."

I agree that you do get some decarboxylation as your buds dry and cure, but the majority is converted at the time of applying heat via vaporizing or smoking. If you don't decarb before eating, you're eating some THC with a lot of unconverted, non-psychoactive THCA. As you said, you can add more weed to make it stronger, if you don't mind ingesting wasted THCA.

I got a better idea for you - just try decarbing and see how it improves the potency of what you're eating. What can it hurt?

Thank you for your 'cut and paste'

in most instances, a good percentage of my crop is seed making

to get them seeds out, I must along with many others dry and cure as normal, tho

I'm not liking the odd seed in my weed, one always slips thru,

I prefer to add the smashed buds and odd dried leaf it to cannabutter

its an easy and practical way of using up them cracked buds

often guys that add weed to cooking have an excess, good, bad even moldy

can be used with some great success

good luck and keep pasting 'gobbledygook'

There are several ways you can decarb. I use a crock pot. It takes a few hours but if it gets to the boiling point and is held there it works fine.I grind my leaf and bud coarse cover with water add coconut oil (like it better than butter) turn on high and let it rip for 12/18 hours strain cool seperate. If you want it stronger, you can do several things. Add hash or kief to finished product. You can use the same butter and cook more weed into it. etc.

Look at your previous posts -
1. you state you microwave butter and bud for 5 minutes, then put it in ice cube trays. So I asked when or how you decarbed the weed prior to eating.
2. You state - "This decarb process would be applicable in a joint even a bong but as for eating ....Na!!" - WRONG! - If you don't decarb weed before eating, or cook it CORRECTLY when mixing it with butter, your eating mostly THCA which won't get you high. That's a fact, whether you understand it or not is immaterial.
3. You also state - "THC on the plants I grow ..don't need to loose a molecule to make me happy" - WHAT? You think your plants have all THC and no THCA?
4. "good luck and keep pasting 'gobbledygook'" - I copied two very informative lines from a reputable source which should have made a light go off in your head, and you don't understand it so it's 'gobbledygook'.

Bottom line is it was my mistake to ask you for information. Do it whatever way you want, it's no skin off my nose how much weed you waste making cannabutter 'your way'.

Nice...! any particular weed you use or just buds?

True. Decarb happens during decomposition. Once you cut the plant it begins to die, decompose. We decarb in the oven to speed this up. Old dry weed needs less time if any.

Type of fat used affects the decarb process too. Regular butter has a low smoke point so adding water helps to keep at a higher temp to decarb during the cook. Clarified butter and Coconut oil have a higher smoke point so water isn't needed. Until it's time to clean it up. This is all of course if you haven't decarbed prior to mixing with fat.

If it's too dry or low quality to smoke, infuse to a fat.

The cut and paste you used is very wrong. Very little decarboxylation happens during the drying and 'curing' process. Potency testing of flowers has proven this to be true over and over again. Heating is the fastest and surest way to decarb but light, air and time will do it if you are not in a hurry.
