Northern Lights: First Grow Question

This is my Northern Lights autoflower bean after planting it in Fox Farms Happy Frog soil eight days ago.

My concern is that the plant is stretching and that the stem is too thin. But this is my virgin run, so I'm not sure. Does this look okay?

My grow box is set up with four CFLs above the plant and one CFL pointed directly at it from the side. I'm doing 18/6 schedule. My box gets up to around 85 degrees F.

I had a lot of growth the night before last, but today the plant doesn't seem to have grown at all.

Thanks for any thoughts or suggestions.IMG_4036.JPG IMG_4037.JPG

Its stretching for the light,a sure sign of not enough light.move your lights closer.Looking at that cfl setup, looks pretty inefficient.Only 1 of those bulbs looks like its making a difference. At this point you would do much better with a reflector.

Pretty hard to tell if it's over stretching at that stage, it's still really small and young. The first set of true leaves are sat on the cotyledon leaves still so there's not a real way to tell. Once you have some more sets of leaves you'll be able to tell if it's over stretching by the space between them. The length of the stem seems to be fine as its not bending over so I'd say it's not, but you'll be able to tell in a few days.

The thickness of the stem is fine. It's only a baby still. Give it time.

As Resinhound said you'd be better getting a different fitting. For now I'd position a bulb directly above it until you have a better one. As long as it's not burning or suffering from any heat stress you can move it closer.

I agree. I would put one of those bulbs pointing straight dow on it.

Pretty plant, im subbed.

Good to see its going well other than the heat.

How is your ventilation? Do you have anywhere for the heat to escape?

I see you have a fan. Is it taking in fresh air or circulating whats in the box?

You would be better off with less bulbs and use reflectors,if you are having heat problems. You need to focus that light down onto the plant. Most of a cfls light is wasted unless its focused with a reflector.
