Closet grow tent security

I live in a state where cultivation is still illegal. I live at a friends house where I pay rent. I just started a 2x2x3 grow tent in my walk-in closet and have it hooked up to a big carbon scrubber (suitable for a 10x10 room) with a 6 in 240 cfm booster fan. I have a 400 watt air cooled HPS in the tent.

I installed a door lock to my bedroom and also have a security camera mounted in my room with motion detector sensors so I can know immediately if I have been exposed. I also have Ona gels set up around my room and the house.

My roommate knows nothing about the growing, but he knows I smoke, which he doesn't care about. I'm 3 weeks into my grow with no problems or smells. I read that it is a bad idea to have your seeds delivered to the house where you will grow, which I did do.....should I be worried about that?

Is it very doable to maintain this small grow tent without him ever finding out? In other words, are the odds against me for getting caught by him or the law? Do more people grow successfully than those who get caught?

I'm a little paranoid and I wanted to know if it was doable to proceed to harvest without getting busted. I have told nobody I grow and I do not sell. Strictly a small tent for personal use. The scrubber is vented into my room so there are no vents to the outside that could be picked up by heat radar. When I'm gone, my bedroom does get warm (80 degrees or so) in comparison the house which is around 70 in winter. Would that be suspicious to police?

I guess I'm just wondering whether I'll be able to pull this off with my current setup. I figure the biggest risk is if my roommate goes in my room by swiping the door open by credit card, then seeing the tent. If that happens my plan is to immediately throw all the plants in a large contractors trash bag and then hit the road to get rid of them. I figured i wouldn't be charged for cultivation if there are no actual plants present....? By rather, possession of grow equipment, etc Is that true?

As you can tell, I'm anxious and have taken serious steps to get a good setup. I just want to have some expert opinions on my situation and if I should be OK?

In short, if I continue the current plan, what are my odds of being busted?
Also, is it safe to be posting on here?

By running a carbon filter, plenty of air circulation... an outside exhaust if possible... If not - by the time you get fans, lights, ballast sound noise, - More than likely all the people who are able to be around are going to find out sooner or later in my opinion. Good luck!

Everything is up and running currently. See picture. Fans and everything. Outside my room, you can't hear anything. The only way you would hear it is if you enter the room. It's been running for 3 weeks now and plants are starting to flower. No smell and no problems yet. I'm just nervous.

Even if my buddy found it, it is very unlikely he would call the police because he would be liable given it is his house. At that point, I would get rid of everything. My main concern is initial detection by law enforcement

No reason why Leo's would find anything, they need a search warrant first. If I was a homeowner in an illegal state and my roommate was growing without letting me know I'd be pissed. He could go to prison for that and so could you.

That tent looks small for five plant might wanna flip soon...

I think I will go ahead and finish this grow and look for my own place ASAP. But I won't start another grow after this one. I just really do t want to trash it all after being a month in.

But I agree with you....I am looking for a new place. Do you think I'm good to finish this grow and then shut down?

Relax grasshopper, police won't come for u, u know how much it cost $$ for the police to do a raid? Almost like 50 grand, and even if someone snitch on u they still need to do surveillance, and make sure that is weight in the house before even try to get the search warrant, marijuana is getting decriminalized in a lot of places and they won't come after u for 6 plants. They are after large scale grows. Relax bro. the only one that u have to worry is about ur roommate. Toke on=====~~

Thanks man - they are autos. Nirvana short rider and Dutch passion Durban poison auto so I have them running on 18/6.

My exhaust is pretty big for the tent so hopefully smell won't ever be an issue. Here are some more pics.


Supposedly they can be finished in 8-10 weeks. 4 weeks in now.

My main issue is temperature. It gets really humid and hot since the scrubbed exhaust goes into my closet. I thought about doing a 6 inch exhaust hole through the floor and venting out under the house. But I'm not sure yet.

Thank you guys very much. I'm doing my best to be covert. He smells the smoke from me burning everyday so I doubt these plants will tip him off to anything. The scrubber is almost as big as the tent lol.

One more question- do you think this tent and the 400 watt hps will generate a detectable heat signature? I'm reading all of these forums and as a first time grower I'm not sure if that is an issue here.

For example, I just came home and when I went into my room it was about 85 degrees and humid since the exhaust vented into the closet. Would my room being that hot generate a heat signature that FLIR can detect from a helicopter or cop using FLIR from his patrol car? Sorry if that's a dumb question.... Lol

Relax dude, it needs to be a real hot signal for them to suspect something, like i say it has to be a real big op. They dont care about little grows dude, it cost them more just to do a mobilization into ur house that what they actually gonna find. Relax dude, take a couple of tokes
