Half my harvest dried way to fast (In 1 day!) Other half still ok.. HELP!

So like the title says, I hung my buds up (like an idiot newb in my flower room where it was way to hot and low humidity) and they dried pretty much over night, stems crack right in half.. I picked em apart and thru em in a mason jar. The other half is still really fresh.. My question is, should I throw the fresher stuff in the mason jar with the dry buds to try and bring back some moisture or something? I read that you can throw any left over fresh stems in when this happens to help out so im thinking the fresh bud should do the same.. or will it fuck everything up??!

Looks like you learned a lesson..Kind of sucks, but it comes with the territory.

Dry your 2nd batch correctly and rehydrate the 1st batch on its own.. Quick dry gives buds the smell of hay. Really sucks. Still gets you roasted though..

Get a big jar and put the overdry buds in there. Put your humidity gauge in the jar with the buds.. Leave it in there for a day and check the humidity. The moisture from inside the buds may rehydrate the outer buds.. (This is what curing and burping does)... If the gauge reads below 60% humidity then do as suggested and drop a fresh fan leaf in there or stick a moist paper towel to the lid of the jar and let it sit over night. Just keep doing this until humidity stabilizes.

I just refreshed a bunch of bud that I've had sitting in jars for a few months. I used the paper towel method. Worked great.

The better the cure, the better the bud.

If it were me I'd take the rapidly dried stuff and make extracts or edibles and hope the main cola was part of the stuff that didn't dry too fast.

i would get a storage box and put all the buds in there, mix it up a bit, shut the lid for a few hours, shake the box and open for an hour
put the lid on for a few hour more ( leave the lid off over night) try and keep the buds somwhere cool 16-20c

The bry buds will absorb some of the water and the wet buds will dry out, need to do this over a few days and you will be fine

I'm sure it's fine. there's probably still a ton of moisture in the buds.. just sweat them in a sealed container for a few hours until it's moist on the outside again.

Luckily the really dry shit doesnt smell like hay at all, smells really really good actually.. i gave it all a real good trim prior to hanging it, i dont know if that helped with the smell, but I ended up just throwing a handful of the smaller, still moist nugs in the jar with the dry shit and it seems to have balanced itself out.. nothing is crunchy anymore.. and now its kept in a cool room, jar opened and closed every few hours, should be good? I hope..

It's probably not as dry as you think it is .. bust a nug open see for yourself.

My relative humidity can be 20%. At those times, the outer material will become crispy in 1-2 days, but the inner core will continue to be moist. That's not a good condition, to let it dry that unevenly. But, when I put them in Sterlite bins, they come back to 75%.

I've also found I can put them in mason jars and exhale into the jar to rehydrate a little. You can't work miracles that way. But, it can give you a little 2-3% advantage.

I have Boveda 65 (instead of 62s) to help hold things higher during the final drying in Sterlite bins.

Keep the crispy bud and regular bud separate.

For crispy bud -- use a large sealable container like a big Mason jar or even a Tupperware bowl. As long as you can seal it tight. Put the crispy bud in the bowl. I use a shot glass with one square of paper towel wadded up in the glass. Soak the pt and place shot glass on top of bud in the bowl. Seal. Check every 12 hours until you have slightly rehydrated your crispy critters. If you wait too long and they gey moist again lay the bud out on a flat surface to dry out a bit. You can go back and forth until you have the moisture level where you want it.

Regular bud. Leave out until smakllest buds are dry and the larger ones just a bit moist. Seal for 24 hours in a jar/bowl. This is the curing stage. Drying is intil most of the moisture is evaporated and curing is sealing the bud so that any moisture still present is evenly distributed throughout the product. If the bud is still too damp put it out for another 24 hours to dry out some more. Then re-seal and let the product re-cure. You may have to go back and forth 2 or 3 times before you get the desired results.

So, don't panic when you go crispy. Just rehydrate as above.

Good luck, BigSteve.

What should be the temperature/RH inside the tent when drying? is 14-17°C and 50-60% rh the right range?
