May be a dumb question??

Whats up RUI fam.... What I want to know is what makes solid buds? I had a lot of success growing after learning the know, but after I dry I get buds that are not as compact as the dro I get off the streets. Is it lighting or veg time or somthing else? Thanks for looking and the help!

Lighting is the major factor to bud density. There is nothing you can add to soil or hydro solution that makes bigger or denser bud. Wattage is not the only thing to consider; spectrum and light placement are equally important.
I find using a combination of LEDs and hids allows for running lower wattage at cooler temps and makes for super tight & sticky buds. I currently run a 600w MH and 2 led panels in my flower room for a total of 1085w. I switch out the mh for an HPS in the bloom room every few weeks to get the most varied spectrums possible. I use the LEDs as side lighting which helps the lowers get as tight & frosty as the top colas.

More light after mid flower.

Supplementing Alaska Kelp in late flower seems to act as a bud "hardener." They seem to get more dense than if I don't use it 2-3 times. It could have something to do with my base nutrients having kelp too. I might be overdosing kelp.

I haven't done it enough (with/without) to have a conclusive opinion yet. But, I firmly believe I've seen it make a difference.

if your running hps light its not the ferts you use or the lighting or soil or water or how you flushed . its the genetics of the plant . some are just fluffy . its not how you dry it . even using a led or a t5 they should be some what dense . more then lily the genetics time to get some thing new

Thanks for the answers... I think I'm going to do a little more research before I move to flower this round.

I'm amazed that no one has mentioned the curing process as a way to tighten up fluffy bud. Jar it once it's dry to the touch but still springy, then roll n burp a couple times a day until you're happy. Dense nugs are easier the more damp the product is when it hopes into the jar, but harder to properly cure.

from experience if your product is fluffy when its on the plant wet once it is dry or wasted time cured . only for do it your self growers not commercial croppers . it will be fluffy no matter what you do. on thing ive seen before feeding the heavy sugar last 2 weeks this guy put a LOTT of sugar in the water 1 pound for a 5 gallon bucket. seamed to help slightly but use caution might burn lungs lol he was not smoking it anyways him self

Hahaha..i love how everybody throws out random advice without asking a single parameter of his grow.. My random advice is keep your temps in check, high temps destroy a grow in many ways but you will get fluffy buds

I have a 400 watt and 600 watt hps/mh. I'm in a 10x10 room, with 80 to 70 temp and 50 to 40 in humidity
I run a 1kw hps in an 8'x 8'x 8' room and I have no problem keeping it cool. I use a focused bonnet(without protective glass) which focuses the foot print at about 20 square feet suspended at about 44" from glass(bulb) to medium and the table is about 20 inches from the floor to the top of the gravel/medium. I use 5'x 5'x 8h' in the 8 by 8 room for the grow. The reflective screening is very important also. I have a gap in the screening from the floor and the ceiling, about 6". I also slit and overlap the screening so I can work around the table easier.

I realize that Super Ace retrofit bulbs are expensive but even though a non-retrofit bulb goes for $79 I have seen nothing but these bulbs hanging in serious grow-ops throughout British Columbia. These bulbs have a trade in value. I use the $79 dollar light:)

I used a product called GRAVITY on 1 of 2 clippings of a Pineapple Kush both were grown side by side in separate bubble buckets in a cabinet using the same amount of nutes and, the one i used gravity in had heavier denser buds. I also used snowstorm ultra on both and they has tons of trichomes and were really sticky. Everyone was really happy with the buds
Under 2x300 watt chinese LEDS
