Saudis vs Iran...who's going to win?

Is anyone else paying attention to the clusterfuck developing over there?
The shit-storm is starting to wind up, and it could get very ugly soon.
Mosques are getting destroyed, ambassadors are being recalled, and the rhetoric is getting hot.

I'm left wondering how much of this is a Psy-Op to suck Iran into a new war, so as to create more chaos in that area. It wouldn't surprise me because of what has been happening in Syria, much to the chagrin of the US MIC. At the same time, the oil marketeers are probably creaming their khakis over the potential volatility.

Meanwhile, the Canadian gov't seems to have no qualms with going through on a $15Bn arms deal with the Saudis, which disgusts me, actually. Oh but it means 3000 jobs for 14 years (supposedly). So, I guess that's all that matters, right?

10%-13% of Muslims worldwide are Shiites. ALL would do well to actually study Islam. It's founding, its founder and his fucking son-in-law Ali who started all this shit between Muslims. The Sunnis do NOT recognize Shias as Muslims and, in fact, consider them heretics. I am quite sure they will roll the Shiites.

If it just comes down to numbers, sure.
But Iran has some very clever people in relation, so I question how it would play out strategically.
At the same time, considering Iran is involved already in Syria, it seems unlikely they would want to expand the front to deal with another pile of shit.
So this may not amount to anything more than tense saber-rattling with a few pockets of crazy.

If it were just SA and Iran that will square off you might be right. But it will not be by country. You are witnessing the continued tribalism and this rift between Sunni and Shia. It will quickly evolve into Sunni versus Shiites. The Sunnis will prevail. This will be a true Holy War.

Good thread. I am wondering how this is going to play out myself. Something big is about to happen and I am sure the U.S. government is right in the middle of it all.

In the Sunni v Shia war, I know I wouldn't side with the Sunni.

Strategically, SA cannot fall into the hands of an anti American Nation. Even Obama wont let that happen. Red Sea on one side, our oil supplies on the other,...The US infrastructure would collapse in a year if both those straits were blocked by shore batteries or mines in the waters. Just the threat to shipping would raise costs and lower traffic.

Iran can and will fight SA to the end but the SA Air Force will put a huge hurting on Iran first.

The biggest wrench anyone could throw into US relations between the two, is to have the two go to war.

How`d that happen ?

You mean this tension? It started with those oh so benevolent Arabs executing 47 prisoners including al-Nimr who was an important cleric of the Shiites, AFAIK.
Although I am loathed to reference FOX, they have a reasonable summary of the lead-up,


Who knows, maybe this is the beginning of Ahura Mazda's return?

There are a couple other sunni majority countries that are cutting ties with iran as well now, so you are very right in that it is just,the same old sectarian bullshit....

ISIS recruiting is very heavy with the Holy War and the Battle of the Final Days etc. They are no nuttier than some religious freaks here. Just more willing to die doing it. They believe this is the fight to Armageddon or the like. Pretty soon country affiliation will mean zip over in the entire region. It already means very little. The Shiites are blaming and condemning the royal Saud family, not all Saudis so it's already getting scattered.

It`s pretty much confirmed in the science field that SA has acquired ready to use Pakistan rockets with HOT payloads,...We will be boosting Iran`s chances to do the same with their rockets.

How do you think SA will feel about Obama supporting Iran when the Two are approaching war ?
