There was a type of cloth mesh. Thats why i dumped it out.

I will bake the phresh but at a lower temp. I have also thought about changing the cloth mesh out with wire mesh. That would allow for future baking without disassembly.
yes, my carbon filters have metal screens, sometimes I wash and bake them whole,, other times i remove the carbon, just depends on how fast you need it,,
a couple of my strains have purple veins or streaks in the stems, there was much discussion on it,, plants look healthy , going to be fun to see the finish come along
I like you get a kick out of when people are around my grow cab and they have no idea whats going on inside

Were there any type of fabric or nylon mesh inside the phresh filter? You know like holding in the carbon dust? I've been thinking about just cooking mine with a blow torch.
I bet you just saved $200 by cooking it though.

Nice.
Ive thought about it. Good filters have carbon made from coal. Thats what mine smelled like in the oven.

A blow torch may be too hot and actually catch it on fire.

Was it easy to empty and refill?
Perhaps there's something you could use that's cheaper and does as good of a job.
I've always wondered how a good cat litter would work in a can filter

Just drill out rivets. It was easy. Messy.

I would be worried about liter absorbing moisture.

I used the top of a jug to fill it. Shook it a few times and packed cotton on top of the carbon so when i pressed the cap on it would hold it down.

I have been needing a new stove. I think ill put the old stove out in my building. Use it for stuff like this or baking parts or something. Keep the smell outside.

If it last six months its worth doing a couple times a year.

Ya the litter would definitely catch the exiting moisture but that wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing on its own.
That's why I asked if it would be easy to do because you would have to do it more often for sure.
I was more curious about the odor masking side.

Hopefully your fix works out tho.
I called a local aquarium store and they have 35lb pails of carbon for $30 so I may build a tote I'll let u know if it works.

Thank you. I got some metal fab equipment. Thought about building a large filter. Let me know.

Ill post how long mine last.

I built my grow room in my barn. I have been amazed at the number of people who have been in it often before and after the build who never even mention it.
Over and above that, we have had a nephew staying with us for the last couple months. He is 21 and gets high, but short of asking what the "locked" room was all about there has been no discovery. Current harvest had to be done over a couple days and after he went to bed.

I have read the back and forth on purple streaks. If it is by its self and doesnt have other symptoms I dont worry.

These two plants have been in identical soil and conditions.

Here is my next thing.

When it comes to pot sites, they are full of conflicting info.

Funny thing is before its over with I wouldnt be surprised if someone told me putting carbon in the oven doesn't work.
It will be someone that hasnt tried it either, just something they read. Lol.

I'll have to build a second scrubber. The filter works for the cab but when I open it the smell is strong. It scrubs it in a little while. I'll build a second one to turn on as needed.

Maybe next time not run cheese strains. Lol. It is loud.

Garbage can, Saws-All, Drill with fat bits ( finger size) and charcoal. Run the vent tube/ hose into the g-can.It does large areas like garages when the smell gets too much for the box.

I need it to be stealth to.

I've got a fan that was a air cleaner. I turned it into a duct fan for my first indoor.

I'll have to do something. I haven't grown nothing this rank in a while. I got a few seeds from skunk that was around in the 90's, the are rank and this bomb cheese is getting close to it.

It started kind of fruity smelling and then started getting cheesy. Its getting stronger.

Baking in the oven worked great. The filters are working and will scrub the room in about 30 minutes. I just want an extra unit to turn on and scrub it in a few minutes.

Maybe I can mount a plate in the garbage can to make two chambers and mount a fan in it. Make it self contained.

Take the lid off and pull the cord out and plug it in. When its done, throw the cord back in and put the lid back on.

YUP. The garbage can is what makes it stealthy, because what little does come out stinks and seldom do people stick their noses into garbage cans.

So your scrubbers are only scrubbing room every 30 minutes.. that's why it stinks so bad. You need to scrub all air every 3 minutes

Its not stinking anymore. Its just for a short while after I open the cab. Other than that it smells fine and you don't know its there.

My bad. I didn't mean I still had the smell problem still.

I am just really surprised at the smell of this cheese.

oh, and i get your trash can idea, seems like a good one to me, anytime you can run thru extra or a second scrubber, its all the better I ran carbon before and after the exhaust fan on my last grow,, really helped

That's what I just did with the refreshed filters. One before and after.

So........ I been thinking. With all the automation doodads and software, there is something missing.

A sensor that could detect the of terpenes in the air and turn a secondary scrubber on and off.?
