all of my flowers came out a lot less dense than usual, i am blaming the old lights i was using and the fact that i never fed them as much as i normally would.
i was expecting the jakes dream to be a bit fluffy due to it being a sativa but even the blue pit and exo came out not as solid as usual, this is how i know i did something wrong.
yield was monumental but quality wasn't up to my usual standards, i must have thrown half a kg of dried bud in the trash. i'm not into making hash these days and that was pretty much all it was good for i realise this was a massive waste and i even had people telling me off for doing so as they would have been happy to smoke or sell it. i just don't like anybody knowing that i don't grow 100% dank lol.
still got near 100 oz of passable buds from 4x 600w lights so the grow was definitely a success. this is the biggest gpw i have had in years, i suppose fluffier buds than usual is the price i pay for being greedy and over vegging the plants. at least i got to experience the flavours and the highs the strains had to offer and i will run them all again because they will at least get a fair shake before i cull the ones i dont want to keep around.
Jakes dream #1+2: both intense sativas, very fruity/spicey like a typical haze if you will, one had bigger buds and one was denser than the other with smaller clusters. both have resin and great bag appeal.
they were both very potent smokes, you have one or two tokes of a joint and it slaps you right in the face, i mean you literally feel your cheeks pulsating and and behind your eyes gets a bit fuzzy. the effect is a quick roller coaster and tends to not have much body to it which is surprising considering the jake blues is the dad. it has the terpene profile that a lot of smokers round these parts go wild for so if i can make it do what i think i can it should enjoy success in my garden.
Fireballs #1+3: one was an 8ft tall beanpole and the other a 5ft bush but both were more or less identical in terms of resin and terps, the shorter plant had ever so slightly less resin but the buds were a lot bigger and i think the overall yield was nearly double that of the taller pheno.
the smell is quite distinguishable, it's is kind of like a fresh baked pastry combined with diesel and a quite sour musty funk. the flavour however is a completely different animal, i was finding it almost tasted like glace cherries, a hell of a lot sweeter than i was expecting. the flavour when it was freshly harvested was nowhere near as strong but after a good cure it has really come out. both plants had very lightweight nugs and pretty much all of the weight was in the resin.
Fireballs #2: this one was the same in terms of aroma but the buds weighed about 5x that of the other two phenos, branches were snapping left, right and centre under their own weight. they were a lot denser but didn't seem to have the same resin content. the flavour is also how it smells, quite chem tasting almost acrid. not the most pleasant sounding but it is an acquired taste, i have some people who preferred it, especially for the fat nugs. it was in between the other two phenos in terms of stretch, definitely a great yielder.
Gringo: this was probably the star of the show for this grow, big fat rocks dripping in resin that no pot head could resist!. the smell is almost identical to the exo with a little more liquorice/ anisette. this finished up the densest of all the plants but i'm still undecided as to what the background is. the high is an unusual one, it is very body dominant and you can only really smoke 1 or 2 joints before it stops having as much of an effect. i have heard it is a CBD cheese and i could well believe it because the i think it is lacking thc, the high is there but it is a lot different to what i'm used to and it doesn't give me a headband like most strains i smoke.
Blue pit and exo have been run more times than i care to remember. they always come out dank and this was no exception, maybe a bit fluffier than usual but dank non the less.
