Seedling/Germ advice

Sounds good, yeah link me. How much should I be spending roughly? Already paid around $400 on the current setup didn't want to spend much more... Whatever works for the cheapest price is what I'm looking for, then I'll start to upgrade a few things once I get a few good grows under my belt

Could I just create my own light fixture with a few cfls? That would be a whole lot cheaper than paying out for a big t5 propogation rig

I have 2 of these and they are much brighter then the expensive sun blaze and cheaper. If your in a smaller area with less veg plants then try this one.

My grow tent is only 80cmx80cmx180 is that efficient for those lights? Could I just use the MH lights instead and have them off-set away for the plants and have the light reflect off the Mylar instead?

For babies and youngish i would get the 2ft flouro that i.posted and use that.until atleast there 12-16 inches tall with multi nodes. On the 400 do you have A fan n such to cool that 400watt. Also a 400 way bulb might cost 20 dollars a month to run 12/12 and the flouro will be 8 bucks a month to run. There Is many great plants grown under flouros for ex look up @whitebb2727 organic wardobe grow. He is using t5s with great success. It's also I believe his first run with flouros n a smaller is area. If you keep the canopy even and rid the lower larf then you could reach your goal

Edit i did not calculate dollar figure for usage in lights I just picked random numbers for an example.

Yeah, I've got an oscillating tower fan. I'm gunna stick that in the corner of the grow tent and let the air spread around. + I have a carbon filter & inline extractor fan for good airflow.

I'm probably just gunna go out and buy a light splitter & have 4 60watt cfls roughly 4 inches away from the plant pots.

That should work just the same, right?

Umm cfls are low on lumen output I would suggest more the 4. There say 60 watt equivalent but are prob less then 60 watts. By the time you buy cfls y splitter etc you would prob be the same cost but the t5 will outshine cfls and cover a better foot print. It's your money you do what you want. As I can only give advise.

I have some 75 watt cfls if that's any better

I read your other thread. The best advice is for you to read, read, and read some more. Also maybe go buy some $1 a pack seeds from the store. Any kind of seeds. Flowers, vegetables, anything and practice.

You want info handed to you. Research. This site has a lot of good sticky threads (threads that stay at the top of forum).

Put your seed in soil and quit screwing with it. That tap root gets lots of tiny root hairs. The more you handle it, the more chance for damage.

Plant tap root up or point of seed up.

I don't get this plant taproot up theory, there's alot of conspiracy with it. Most people tend to plant taproot down.

I just want advice on lights I can't find anywhere that sells light splitters nearby, surely I can just use the Metal Halide 400w however just move it further away from the pots... I'm pretty set on everything else. I've done all the research, obviously I'll learn new things along the way.

I can't really afford to fork out another 80$ on t5's, so that's why I'm asking is there any other alternate method for lighting for really young plants.

Apparently you can't even sprout seeds. I showed you why. The tap root makes a u turn. You put it down, it will turn up then down. I've seen seeds just spin in the hole.

Plant tap root up and lightly tamp the dirt down. Put pressure on the dirt to press it down so the seed stays seated in position.

Not to be rude but you need to learn to crawl before walk.

What is the point of all this equipment if you can't sprout a seed.

Look at the diagram. With tap root up, when it sprouts the dirt will pull the seed hull off.

I throw the seed in the dirt any ole way. I don't germ them either.

Pull your head out of your ass and listen to some experienced people and you might get somewhere.

Just get some cfl for the sprouts. Splitters can be found at any hardware store.

I'm not trying to say your methods are wrong, I've read alot of threads and alot of people tend to throw their seeds in taproot down.

But for the sake of argument, I'll use your method.

I'm strapped for cash, and I just wanted to know if it's possible that I can use 400w mh or hps at a distance and have the pots off centered - (It's all I have at the moment) . If not I'll do it your way.

The short answer is yes, you can use a 400w mh or hps at a distance for seedlings but it is not optimal. If you have the option to dim it I would.

Yes you can use the mh to sprout. I use the sun.

A seedling will harden off. Start with it about three foot above the seedling.

One last question before I go and set everything up!

Should I leave seran wrap/plastic bag over the tops of the plastic pots? With no light and wait for the seedling to sprout before giving it light

I wouldn't use wrap. I would also set the light up and put it on a timer. That's me though. I grow under t5 and turn a couple of my bulbs on from the time I plant seeds.

I'm also not claiming to be an expert. I just can go from point a to point b.

Not trying to be rude here, but I didn't title my post "Check out who has the same avatar/picture" I really could care less, I just wanted help with my first grow. And so far nobody has helped me out with any answers. I thought this site's main purpose was to help other users...
nobody has answered my question yet. I'm new to growing, and I don't want to screw up anymore seeds. Since my last seeds just rotted died, and did nothing.
I've just germinated some seeds. They're ready to be potted.

Should I pre-water the soil then add the seed, or should I go ahead plant and then water?
Can I just go ahead and get the coco mix it with some perlite and throw it into a solo cup? Should the soil be, damp, moist, or fully drenched?

And should I add light or wait, and just keep them in a dark warm cupboard for now until they sprout?

Nobody has fully answered my questions before, ah forget it.. Thanks :)

I should make another thread for this part but i'm a lazy stoner with the skills of a retarded kid riding a unicycle
bro read my post in your last germ seed thread?
:wall:

i think your going to have a number of hurdles and struggles along the way.
you better start researching your bum off

best advice i can give, is to accept advice....and not just the advice you want to hear

nobody thats answered you is a new grower. my riu cred is actually pretty high, ttystikk knows what he's doing so does whitebb and pretty sure anzo....
thats all i remember, but im sure others posted in your other threads

newbs grow a couple plants and start giving advice, usually most they read and repeat. if you notice these folks never come to a consensus on plant problems/deficiency and will all tell you different things, flushing etc.

im willing to bet every one i just named imcluding myself will tell you the same thing about flushing before harvest ..and other issues.
