Too many roots?

If you must use the same pot, trim the roots and add more soil.

if your going to sacrifice root size then your going to sacrifice quantity. it really takes under 2 min to transplant. rule of thumb is a month for each gallon. not to mention, you still have atleast 2-3 weeks you can wait. its not completely root bound yet.

So how many bigger pots to get the same potential yield then? You can't just go way bigger pots and think your going to get the same light coverage. Pretty sure thats the dilemma here. Looks like the op was shooting for a 4 unit run.

Ok well i have a whole cube of promix left that i forgot about. But no pots. These are 5gallon pots and i usually leave an inch or 2 at the top. They have compacted down since i first transplanted. So there is anywhere from 2 inches to 4 or 5 inches of available space on some. Would that soil benefit the roots or would it just entangle again within a week or so?

Flower them,they will be just fine....just more watering.

It's a weed. If you trimmed back the roots and put sand in the bottom, It will still grow. It's not rocket science. I would try to use the same soil I started in, but that's just years watching granny play with her plants back in the day. You will be fine.

When you say trim the roots, can one cut like lets say 2 inches off the bottom? Or? Do you slice the sides at all?

Thanks guys. I'm going to pull them out of the buckets and put 3 or 4 inches of promix in all the bottoms then give it till next friday and switch to flower. I'll keep posting updates!

Not to answer for him/her..

But I have seen nothing wrong with the plants,when I did just that....cut/knock off some of the bottom soil,and set her on top of fresh soil.

I think the bottom should be enough. ..

The bottom inch would be fine. The process genuity suggested is fine. You just need enough room to allow new growth in flower. And quit adding root stimulants. Just pot her back up, give a day or two for recovery and flower.

On a side not from your other thread, you could of been under watering. How do they look? As far as the droop they had?

The droop has almost went away since I've started watering less more often and I also increased my nutes from half strength to 3/4 strength. I seen a few bugs so I'm going to spray tonight and also add the extra dirt. I'm hoping for 4 oz per plant. I'll keep posting. Thanks for the input guys.

Ive never done it. But i would definitely cut an inch or so off the root spin out at the bottom. Weather its take a sharp knife and cut or loosen the bottom so roots dangle and use scissors. Maybe @grannymae Or @genuity could direct you to what they'd do.

You are over thinking. If you want to trim roots, get a sharp knife and lop off the bottom inch. If you don't want to trim roots, just shake or hit the bottom inch of soil loose. Repot and relax. It won't die either way.

I always forget it's just a weed haha. I'll use a good sharp sterilized pair of scissors and remove the tangled balled up roots. Thanks.

NAh Don't do that.
He is flowering, why would cutting the roots out of the container to JUST in order to allow them to regrow?
Leave them alone, finish them, those aren't rootbound, that's the typical root system of cannabis, it'll shoot down to the deepest first and fill in from there.
Roots don't need to be pruned either way, those are healthy, the roots will spread from the rootball just fine.
If he did transplant that is.
Root spin is harmless, the roots grow from everywhere.

Yup,just shake what you want off...


Repot water,keep growing.
