But you'd have to have the buckets higher than the reservoir, right?

I guess I could build a riser for my tent since my controller will be outside of the tent.

think of the kitchen faucet sprayer with the hose. so like 1/8" holes in a pvc end cap to a hose barb hooked up to heater hose that was fed by the 700 gpm water pump inside the control tub. these would spray down into the grow totes. and then drain back to the control tub. this ran all the time. it was how i got the water to recirculate in the whole system.

i built mine all at the same height. so the water level in the control tub controlled the water level in the grow totes. the pump in the control tub was basically sucking water from the bottom drains of the grow tubs.

they were all elevated off the ground to make room for the drains i put in at the bottom of each tote grow and control

Gotcha. I think I'm going to stick with my original plan.

Question now is, do I get a 60LPM or 80LPM Alita pump for 80 gallons. I really don't want to over-purchase. Pretty good difference in price.

also a formula for calculating LPM per X gallons. you'll have to google search it. Alitas are good pumps though.

you can't have too much weed, women, money or air in my humble opinion.

rdwc is all about quickly recirculating the most oxygenated water you can.

I have a habit of scope creep when working on projects. I out-scaled my original design and ended up with a sizable price tag. More importantly, I need to stay within my limitations of having no more than 32oz. So I don't want to be growing too much (never thought I'd hear myself say that). But I'm just growing for myself

I'm going down to the 8 gallon buckets and a smaller controller. Got the gallons down to 40, which means smaller pumps and chiller. Save some $$$

You need two of the al 80's for that much water.

So, here's what I've come up with:
I'll be using 8-gal square buckets. Estimating 6-gal of water ea = 24-gallons
I'll use a 20-gal sterilite tub for the controller. Estimating 16-gallons
Manifold and chiller probably contains a few gallons

I'll just say 45-gallons
45x12=540gph required (getting 700gph)

Alita 60LPM Air pump
Danner Mag-Drive Supreme 7 700GPH water pump

Does this look correct?
I would run one al-80 with 45 gallons water pump will be fine its more than enough you could get a 600 if you wanted to save some

Thanks, I appreciate the direction.

So I'll go with the Alita 80 and the danner supreme 7 (700gph) because I found 10 gallon containers (est holding 8) so I'll be looking at 50 gallons.

I'm psyched to see what the Alita can do :-)

I meant to say "estimating each 10 gallon container holding 8 gallons"

These are what I'm going with. Super cheap and a great size for a 4x4 tent...
